I’ve got one and they’re great!

Make sure you adopt proper prep though. I hot towel my face before shaving. Makes a huge difference

Just remember when using it, make yourself accountable. Be the best man you can be!

  • recently got a Merkur 34c(stupid i know should have started with this) but any suggestions for a shaving brush. i have been using a cheap shaving brush and it's bristles have gone soft and doesn't lather as much now..

As someone with a dozen plus brushes, many rather expensive get a basic new generation synthetic. Yaqi makes very good value shaving gear, their brushes in particular are well regarded by the shaving community (yes it's a thing) - but you can get even better value if you grab one of their defect ones from Ali - I've bought before myself - I could not even find a fault on it - amazing value , there's others there as well but they sell pretty fast.

All defects - 24mm is a nice size for the knot, just depends on the handle style you like.

    • I use Razorock Plissoft and it’s pretty good and cheap. No issues at all. I purchased from Beard and Blade.

I've been using a Proraso Professional Shaving Brush for years now. They're about 23 bucks on Amazon.

    • A badger or boar brush is the way to go. I would suggest Omega Pure Bristle Shaving Brush 10018 as a starting boar brush which is perfectly capable. If you are willing to spend more, then you can explore Semogue boar or Simpson badger brushes. Synthetics have never worked well for me.

For some reason this razor didn’t work for me at all. Didn’t matter what I did, the shave was not close at all. After a few tries I threw it in the bin and bought Rockwell 6C and never looked back.

The 6C is a great razor!

      • Had one of those but after a while the handle thread stripped where is screwed into the shaving head, no I was being rough with it. :) Got a 6S as a replacement and it's going fine. Plate 6 with Gillette Minora blades seems the best combo so far.

    • Its a good razor but its mild so will not give the closest shaves. But still a solid choice for beginners.
