    Despite DM price matching the previous offer, they tried to use every excuse to not price match in store.

    1. Nicks don't have a store front.
      Yes they do, I can C&C from Doncaster.

    2. The website doesn't load so I can't validate the price.
      Dan's has blocked the URL on their internal network.

    3. This is a clearance item. We don't match clearance.

      RZ XO is not listed in clearance. It states reduced.

    4. The item is more than 10km from this store.

      Their price guarantee link mentions nothing of this rule.

    From their Price Guarantee link:

    If you find a lower price, we’ll beat it!
    Cool, beat it then.

    we'll beat it on the spot
    All I got was an argument.

    Simply show us the competitor’s price
    I showed both the direct link and it not being included in clearance.

    Dan Murphy’s will only beat a competitor’s price within the same state of your physical store
    I'm in VIC, so is Nicks.

    some examples of acceptable competitor’s advertised prices are a competitor’s catalogue, website URL address, or a voucher or coupon
    They tried to claim the Nicks site wasn't loading.

    Dan Murphy’s is unable to beat member-only and duty-free retailers, liquidation or clearance sales
    Not a clearance item. It is a reduced item.

    Dan Murphy’s has the right to limit purchases to exclude commercial quantities
    I was after one bottle.

    Go over their head and demand compensation for not living up to their marketing bs ,
    Their online team will be more susceptible to any argument ,
    Try ringing them up , and replete their marketing “guarantee” back to them .
    Don’t take no for an answer , and when they do give in , make sure the manager in your local retail outlet knows clearly that they have to abide by the rules of a national store policy and they can’t make it up as they go along in their little fiefdom .

      If they held their ground on one clause it may have been a bit more believable, but they jumped to every excuse which was easily contradicted with my statements/evidence.

      I’m not one to go all Karen Darren on anyone but it was a very circular conversation.
