Check your op-shop - a little while ago I got 2 dozen "splades/ splayds" for 0.20 cents each from one of the op-shops in our town.

One handed eating good. Leaves the other hand free for the glass.

    • I second this! Found different types of splayds, from the original, to dessert sizes and pointier shaped. All at op shops.

  • Anyone have a link to a video on how this works? Interested to know

    • yeah which is the knife part? both sides of the head?

      • +3

The sides are not sharp. You can merely cut something soft like a sausage, but not something like steak.

        • You can cut sausage with a regular spoon or fork too.

Conclusion: these are metal sporks, nothing more.

          • @andresampras: Yeah lol, also 'cutlery set' is a bit misleading. Should be called 'spork set'.

  • 18/8 not 18/10..

  • "Invented in Australia" apparently

  • These are great, we got ours off the side of the street but happy to pay for a few more, they are very useful.

  • Am I the only one who thinks this is horrible cutlery, just looks uncomfortable and subpar at 3 things. Cutlery is small enough that I'd rather take 3 pieces with that do their jobs well

    • +2

I get that if you were seeing it for the first time, it wouldn't impress.

But, like The Goonies, The Princess Bride, or Star Wars: if you grew up with them you know how good they are.

  • How do you cut something if you need a fork to hold what you're cutting in place? Do you then use 2 forky things or just use a fork and knife anyway…??? Kinda strange to me

    • +1

I suppose you could just use two? It would unlock even more functionality like flipping them around to use as unwieldy chunky chopsticks!

  • why use cutlery when you have hands? :p

  • Never liked these ones as a kid. We had the Ezi-Eater ones which I very much preferred.

  • Are these not just sporks? I've always called them sporks anyway, they're awesome 10/10 cutlery.

    • Aren’t sporks spoon and fork. This is fork and knife

      • Yeah you might be right, I didnt know these had another name. Either way can vouch they're better than a fork in 95% of my use cases.

      • That's not a knife…
