Please please please, spend the extra and get yourself a ticket directly issued by Qatar Airways through their website. More management, cancellation vouchers are easy to obtain on this fare class, changes are easy and plenty to suit your needs, and extra baggage and seat selection is significantly cheaper directly with Qatar Airways during booking as opposed to managing a booking and paying more. Support is really easy through Qatar Airways's live chat or via phone, as opposed to a TA which can take days for a response and generally be unhelpful.

And a tip, for those passengers travelling on the Sydney or Perth to Doha sector. Select the "Upper Deck" Economy class on the A388, it makes it a heck of a better more enjoyable experience, quieter, and on the 2 window seats, there are storage bins directly next to the window seats. Its worth the premium.

thanks for the good tips that's useful!

    • I need to save this note. Thanks AF

Add around $50 to these prices to book directly through the airline (sometimes less) - it's actually still really reasonable. Thanks for the info!

    • +10

I second this, BYOJet robbed me $800 for a simple date change which wouldve been $180 if I went with the airline (cant have been more than $50 price difference for the tickets), ALWAYS BOOK DIRECT !

      • -3

If you need to change the date… Which many of us never do and never will need to do.

    • +1

Sticking to airlines' own booking system too.

    • You are a legend!

    • The lowest fare does not have seat selection unless you pay to select seat for each sector.

    • I second the Economy seats in the "upper deck" for a more comfortable flight, but be aware that they are an additional $218 per person to sit up there!!

  • Planning a 4 week Europe trip next year. Is Europe too cold in March? Looking to fly in to Rome, visit Venice, Florence then onto Paris, Salzburg and Prague.

    • +1

Wasn't too cold for me when I went this year over March//April. Some days were warm and some days were a bit cold but not freezing. Considering none of them are places you'd sit on a beach or swim, I think it'd be a great time of year.

    • +5

If you go in March you will miss out on all the queues! Who does that?

    • +1

Temperatures not too bad. However, the nature would still be having winter stress and not fully back to its vibrant spring colours.

    • +1

If you're driving in Italy you are "supposed" to have chains on your tyres until 15-Apr for some of the higher altitudes. Will be mid-high teens in Rome, Florence & Venice but will be cooler because less crowds ;)

      • Thanks everyone. I am looking at mid March to mid April dates actively now. If I snag those $1200 with Qatar that ll be a steal. If you have any other advice or recommendations for Europe travel, please feel free to share here or via PM. I’d really appreciate it.

    • +1

Depends on your perception. I had a cold and had to wear down jacket mid March, not so much towards April

    • +1

You will have a great trip. I did a similar itinerary in reverse last November . It wasn't too cold. Rome is sunnier than Melbourne anyway lol.

    • +1

Paris and Prague will be a bit nippy i was over in Europe in March to watch Wigan v Penrith then travelled europe for a bit both cities where certainly jumper weather in March

    • +1

      A separete note:
Just did the same route in Italy + Milano two weeks ago.
Most probably you’ll be there during the low season. But consider online booking popular attractions beforehand. Otherwise get ready to pay premium to third party re-sellers on last minute.
Like the colossseum underground tour, or the dome in Florence.

'Is Europe too cold in March?'

last April we went to London, Paris, west/Atlantic coast of France, and San Sebastian expecting it to be pleasant temperatures

but no - it was cold - typically 12C with strong cold wind chill so 'feels like' 6C or so - it was the only time in decades I've worn double layers with thermal long underwear top and bottom, scarf and gloves - EVERY DAY. In Australia I don't recall ever needing to wear that even in winter.

global warming extreme weather - it may be unexpectedly hot - or unexpectedly cold - hard to predict any more.

  • Such good pricing!

OP when do you suggest is best to book to the UK for April-May 25?

    Thanks so much 😊

    • +2

I would say now is the time! 6-8 months out is usually the sweet spot for booking international flights :)

      • Thanks for the quick reply :))

        • +1

Message me with your dates if you'dl ike me to take a look for you :)

  • Great prices here.

Any tips for scoring cheap flight with Qatar for YUL-MEL return in March 2025?

    • +2

I'd suggest flying another airline! Air Canada & Air New Zealand coming in at half the price of Qatar flights. But I am mostly familiar with flights leaving Australia, not an expert on flights out of Canada by any means :)

    flying is extremely dangerous.

    • +7

Which is why most of us take planes instead of flapping our arms!

      • +1

        😆

    • Enjoy driving from Melbourne to Los Angeles

  • I thought they were protesting against tourists

    • Not sure why there are negative votes but this is true. There are currently anti-tourist protects in Barcelona due housing supply issues: https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2024/07/09/barcelona-a…

    • Its all over italy. Had a wine tour guide in florence spend half his time bitching about cost of living and tourists in may. Had to take him aside and say please, please shut up. Its much the same back home, im on holiday, and if you dont want my money you can give it back and we'll leave you to it.

Pay a little bit extra and purchase directly from an airline. Our return ticket has been canceled after flying one way, purchased from booking.com. They don’t offer any alternative just refund and refund calculated on their terms. Had to pay extra $800 to purchase a new return ticket with different airline.

    • -1

you gambled for a cheaper return trip and failed, most of the time you'd win.

      • +1

Such is live, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. It’s human nature to think that “my ticket won’t be canceled” and “I will be on winning side” so I’ll just save couple hundred dollars…Just sharing my experience.

        • Even when you share your own experience, it gets harder to find sympathy amongst the tough bargainers here

      • The message was you dont have to gamble. It costs almost functionally nothing to book direct. Walk your ass back over to 8 mile.

    • +1

That sucks bro. I will heed your advice.

  • +1

Need this for further dates (oasis reunion :))

I was going to try Qatar airways on my next trip to UK but this and more info here Put me right off.

  • I can't see these prices at all, not on google flight or Qatar website……….

    • I just clicked the Melbourne to Milan link and it is still working for me - make sure you are looking at. the 'cheapest' tab

    • +1

Yes looks like since yesterday the 'Economy Lite' fares are gone, at least for Brisbane to Barcelona for example

  • hello and thank you for the deal!
I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best way to get to Scotland or Wales? Would buying a flight to one of these locations and then flying there be worth it, or is it better to keep an eye out for direct flight deals?
Sorry for the niche question, I've always wanted to see my heritage so I'm just trying to figure out the best way to get over there
    Thank you!!

    • +1

Hi, you are almost never gonna get deals to those places (or, it would be very rare!) but places that I see regularly go on sale are London and Dublin (mainly London). I'd keep an eye out for good deals to either of those :)

  • It is a good deal for sure
