Hi All,
Looking for an SUV for camping, nothing needed or insane 4x4-ing, but something good for a commute and for weekend trips on dirt roads / mild tracks.
Keen to hear thoughts.
Thanks.

Xv for camping is bad idea, depending on how many on the car, you'd want at least the rav4 or Forrester for space because it fills up very quickly. Xv can barely fit 2 adult and their backpacks inside.
Eh, I had an XV, now I have a forester. XV was more than enough
Only if you go alone and taking hiking tent.
@lgacb08: Not true at all, me and the mrs took gazebo, big esky, folding tables, mattress everything
How big do you think you need? How many people going csmping?
Theres a big difference between a Forester, Sante Fe, Kluger and Landcruiser.
Camry with one of those awnings on clearance from anaconda 🤔
AU Falcon wagon.
BA would be better.
I had one of these rust buckets.

@snappy1234: Fix Or Repair Daily.
Tracks may appear mild in the dry, you might get to camp fine… but gettin home can be different
How many people you taking?
What sort of camping? Base Camping?
Over night? week/? Tent? Swag? Camper? Basic high country? Fraser Island? Beachport/Robe? Flinders?
what sort of vehicle do you like not like? What have you looked at and test driven?
What do you have in mind?
Pajero? Drive real nice and well within your budget for a good used rig already setup with most gear you'll need
My thoughts; put more information in your description of you want a decent answer.
Subaru outback / forester
Mitsubishi Pajero / Pajero sport
MU-X
Prado
Theres a bunch of different options, you've gotta figure out what works for you
Rent one for the few times you go camping
If you want to do hectic 4x4 stuff, Mitsubishi seems to make good affordable options, e.g. Pajero Sport/Triton.
However if its just dirt roads, tracks and campgrounds, and you dont want something as big, get a Subaru! I had a 2012 XV, now have a 2013 Forester which I lifted. Honestly, they've taken me anywhere I want to go without a single problem. Got some all terrain tires and they handle the dirt fantastic. Comfortable and fuel efficient too. XV got about 7.5L/100km, Forester 8.5L/100km.
