Photobook Printing Recommendation

Hi all, hoping to make a good quality (ideally under $100 though) photobook of a recent trip for my parents. Does anyone have a good recommendation of where to get it done?

My first thought is Vistaprint, which I have used for invites before. But not sure if their photobooks are any good

The last post that I saw on this topic was from like 10 years ago, so wondering if times have changes with companies

  • I've used Harvey Norman in the past. Arrange it online and collect once ready.

  • Snapfish make decent stuff and they have a sale on at the moment

    • Agreed. Get it delivered to Kmart to save on shipping if that’s a factor.

    • they have a sale on at the moment

They ALWAYS have a sale on.

      • That is completely false. The sale mentioned finished on September 2 and the current sale only started today, so for the last 2 days, there was no sale.

        • so for the last 2 days, there was no sale.

You missed the 2 day sale…

          Currently it's only 75% off…

          • @jv: I’d pay full price for a photo book featuring you

            • @Agarwal:

              I’d pay full price

Then don't shop at Snapfish as they are always on sale…

              • @jv: I'll buy two and not look at one

                • @Agarwal: or send it back so they can resell it to somebody else….

                  • @jv: I am not fond of scalpers

  • BigW always have 50% off sales on…… just check every now and then or so and your wanted product will be on sale.

    They are good quality too….

  • Thanks for the replies everyone. So looks like there are a few options

Does anyone have a recommendation on what’s the best print quality in terms of photos (thinking colours, paper used etc)

  • I've been using photobookshop (also trades as photobooksexpress, dunno why) since 2014 for all my trip books and other stuff including a 40 book reprint bulk order. I use their pc app for complete layout control, but they now have a facility to do this online.

Quality is fine, price is even better (don't buy at their walk up prices, only at their sale price - buy a voucher and this usually includes delivery). They have a sale at the drop of a hat

Generally I've used their 26x33cm / 60 page format - 40-60 bucks. Got a couple of their 'lay flat' books last year and wouldn't go back to the normal format after that.

Biggest trap is the visual difference between what you see on screen as you do your project versus the end print (colour/contrast/brightness).This is usually a display fault, not the print process

Not affiliated in anyway with them. I think I picked them at random initially because of price and after seeing the end product just stuck with them.

    • +1

+1 for photobookshop ive only made one so far but was very happy with the result (one of those open flat types)

I kept the differences in mind on screen vs print so when editing the photos I put into the book I did some adjustments to compensate for this

    • Thanks for the reply! Reckon that I might go with them then.

Regarding the colour difference, I’ve used Lightroom to edit my photos on a pretty colour accurate display. Is there something I need to do to make the match (as close as possible) to the print?

      • colours have been fine for me (except when I oversaturated in the edits, even then, the print did a very accurate job of presenting my mistake!). One of my last books lacked exposure (darkish), but my monitors are tuned for other things, didn't really pay attention, so it was my fault

        • Thanks for the reply! Helpful to know

  • +1

    I personally like Vistaprint photobooks
