I’ll updoot because I’m an orient fan and this colour combo slaps hard - but god I miss when these used to go for under $200

      It's a nice watch!

      • but god I miss when these used to go for under $200

That pretty much sums up every price tier of watches.

True. But for this model it was posted at least 3 times as recent as Feb this year.

        11/07/2023- $164.79

        02/09/2023 - $167.91

        17/02/2024 - $184.11

I know the camels chart can be a bit weird sometimes but it looks to show from oct - around March 2024, it was jumping up and down a lot - but was under $250.

    • Why do you like the Orient's?

I was in Japan last year for a vacation and saw a Orient Sun and Moon that looked really nice, but just couldn't put my money on it, as I am a tight ass.

        *nice design
*decent movements used and build quality generally reported as decent
*good reputation and brand name recognition
*relatively affordable for many , good value for under $250 for a 'brand name' watch (as opposed to Chinese or rebadged micro brands)
*can tell everyone its JDM AF

I still dont have any in my collection though - but SAC08002F0 is on my list.
i also wish they would reissue orient president day date - there is no way in hell i am paying scalper prices for the og.

    • Genuine question as I see you comment on all the watch posts: what would you recommend for a first watch? Orient and Seiko seem to be popular contenders here.

      • What’s your budget and wrist size mate? And do you want it for casual or dressier outfit?

I’m currently pretty much wearing my ssc813p everyday, dresses down well with a shirt and jeans or dresses up good with an oxford shirt. Hell I’d prob wear it with a suit too. A good price for it is $600 or less brand new. Up to 7 inch wrist is good.

Otherwise can’t go wrong with classics like Seiko 5 (there’s a heap of different versions to suit taste and occasion)

        • Say $400, and never actually measured wrist size, but would say on the smaller side? Smart casual outfit.

          • +1

@bambadee: I’m bias but if you don’t mind second hand and $400 is a hard limit, second hand ssc813p

Otherwise just a Quick Look over historical data maybe start looking at:

Timex legacy - rrp $300, usually up to 30% less at iconic

Timex marlin chrono rep 449, wait for 30% off

            Seiko SRPE43J or SRPJ21J- about $379

            Casio A1000MA-7D

Amazon orient specials (price fluctuate a lot) - up to you about which one, I quite like the open heart ones.

Citizen Tsuyosa - i specially like the gold ones, but can’t go past NJ0151-88L

            Citizen NH9130-84A - was $259 last month rrp $550

      • go with Seiko panda

      • Orient Mako 2/3 (Komasu), or a Seiko/ citizen are certainly a good choice.

Still waiting on the 38mm under 200$.

    • +3

Same, although I don't know if it will ever happen. Inflation etc. Wish they had made the 38mm model years ago. The latest 38mm small seconds IMO is the best Bambino yet

      • +1

        We can only hope mate

      • +1

Yep - waiting on the price to drop on the SS versions then will grab one. They're super nice.

    • not sure if i should hold my breath for a re-issue on orient president day date..or just get a timex legacy for that 'day date' look

    • have you got a link to that one? Thanks

    • Currently on creation watches for $287 after promo/GST is applied.

  • Can’t believe the price of the Bambinos now. Bought mine for $150 and it’s $250 now.

  • This is normal price.

  • Waiting for the open heart version :')

  • +1

    38mm and we'll talk

  • +1

Any recommendations for small wrists? Something similar to Tissot PRX?

  • ivory dial when

  • price should be under $200

  • What is the movement used on these? The specs listed just say 'Japanese Automatic'. Anyone know which Japanese Automatic, brand and calibre?

It is a classic handsome looking watch. For me, I still wish they didn't include the colour (in this case red) in the logo print on the dial. I think it would look better without the colour but that's a very individual observation.

    • Inhouse movement, look on calibre corner. It's good so don't worry for this price.
