My point club plus just turned over another year. It was advertised for 96,000 points few days ago and I was waiting till last minute to purchase this for points and behold an increase to 120k for 60 days. Good for churning private health while earning some points to meet your point club or point club plus! Please search for previous discussion about changing cover to obtain 120k bonus points or just keep gold and top extra if you are already on it.

Comments

  • Has anyone had an experience with increasing and decreasing their plan to maximise points?

    • I did from Bupa to Medibank. Got burned on the 12 month wait period. But did get 120K velocity for my troubles.

    • +3

I did it. I purchased only basic hospital cover and then I upgraded to Gold hospital and purchased Top extra on 56th day. On 60th day, i got 120k points and then cancelled. No issue. But, Qantas added one conditions: Qantas previously offered 120k on 60th day. At this time, Qantas offers points at two stages (60 and 180th day). 80% on 60th day and 20% on 180th day.

      • Don't think there's any realistic difference if you cancel after getting the 120K points for 60 days?

        • I think so. It's not worth to keep expensive policy for 180 days to get 30000 points. So, 120k for 60 days is fine.

  • Doesn’t seem like referral is eligible with the bonus points offer? I tried adding in code section on sign up without any luck.

    • Same, interesting…

    • need to call them to stack. I've successfully added it by phone after taking out my policy previously, but probably best to do it before you take out policy

  • Found these tables on the website which show how many points you get for each tier of cover.

    Points table for singles

Points table for couples and families

  • Wow over $1000 a month for the top cover with 150000 points. Do people really pay that much for health insurance? We pay $340 per month with HIF

    • Medibank seems to be about 248 a month for top cover.

  • Yeah, I just did that same quote, that’s some expensive “bonus” points, if your not needing such high cover.

  • When trying to enter a referal code from OZB randomizer:
Sorry, this referral code is not valid in conjunction with the current sign on Qantas Points offer.

    Any ideas?

  • Over $1600 for 60 Days coverage for 120k QFF, that’s steep
