  • So this is my doctor uses for taking their notes. I had always wondered what sort of tablet they have got.

Can the notes be transfered to an app on PC or cloud ?

    • +1

I've not used one, but from what I've read others say, you have to email it back and forth between the Scribe and other devices.

    • +1

A similar device to look into is Onyx Boox. It's android OS so you can install any app you like

    • +1

Is also possible they have the remarkable.

    • If I were to take notes relating to any patient care, I would want there to be no identifiable details in said notes as I believe they are stored unencrypted on Amazon's cloud. Other options might be better for this niche use case.

      • +2

        Have you seen doctor's writing?
        I think doctors have built-in encryption. :)

  • Is there a consensus on if there is a scribe like device Eink platform to rule them all yet?

    • +1

There's no product which is the best at everything, but there are a bunch of good options depending on what you need.
The Remarkable 2 is the best for pure notetaking but has limited features and is a little outdated at this point.
The Supernote A5X2 will almost certainly be better than the Remarkable 2 but is stuck in development hell (coming this year though, hopefully).
Both of the above have the best writing feel (assuming the A5X2 is no worse than the current Supernote products).
The Scribe is by far the best value for money, and the best Kindle Store integration, but mediocre as a writing device.
The Onyx Boox range are the most fully featured devices, they're essentially Android tablets with eink screens. I have a Note Air 3C I use for work and it's great, but the software has its quirks and bugs, and it's not a cheap device.

  • Successfully PBG'ed over the phone with OW. $464.55 delivered, free metro shipping.

Seems it has very limited stock online, and practically no in-store stock around VIC.

  • New to this kindle..what is example biggest difference between this and iPad 9th gen as I don't see the point getting this compared to iPad.

    • +1

Its an ebook reader primarily, its designed for reading and simulating the book reading experience.
If you're primarily wanting a device for reading its fantastic, the eco system is fantastic, but that's all it does.
You can read on an iPad too, but it's heavy, the battery drains a lot quicker, and the screen isn't designed for extended periods of time reading, you can strain your eyes depending on lighting conditions.

The year is 2117. Kindles have been out for 110 years.

Some guy in the comments: why no just iPad lol

      • Similar to Mac or pc. Pc guy myself so dont know much about Mac. Bet most people dont know much about the other and they also been around a while ;).

Just wondered the main benefits of getting one. Not even held one. And yes i know, not really a good comparison. Should've gone with hz on monitor haha. That always sparks comments.

At least now i know screen different, lighter, better battery time and more feel/look like paper. Especially when writing on it.

iPads and other tablets using LCD/OLED screens need a smooth glass surface otherwise they look dirty/grainy, which means writing on them using a stylus doesn't feel as nice as writing on paper.
With eink screens you can have a textured surface and it still looks fine, which allows you to have a much more paperlike writing experience.
Eink devices also typically have weeks to months of battery life and are much lighter and more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

Wasnt it 349 a couple of months ago? Or maybe that was a lesser version

    • Bigger storage and better pen.

Won’t be a problem as ebook reader but significant upgrade as digital notepad.

  • I wonder if these companies actually make money from selling these high end ink devices.

    • the sole purpose of companies is to make money
