Edit, this has now been solved: it's Uncle Tobys "Squarz". My memory was wrong: it was date syrup, not maple syrup.
Original post:
About 6 months ago, I found a heavily discounted cereal (I'm sure it was Uncle Tobys) in Woolworths. The normal price was extremely expensive, about $12, but it was down to $2 or $3, maybe because it was being discontinued. There was only one box left. It might have originally been in the health food section, but I picked it up in the clearance section.
It was fairly plain and was marketed as being very healthy, with only 4 ingredients (I think: oats, maple syrup, banana, and something else). It definitely had maple syrup and banana in it, and almost certainly oats. And I definitely remember it had only 4 ingredients. I think the cereal had some kind of distinct shape, like a spheroid shape or diamond, with air inside, or a square shape with a kind of small lattice. It was not those oat flakes or oat crisps that Uncle Toybs sells. It's also not that Freedom Maple crunch cereal. It definitely had banana as an ingredient.
I ate it with soy milk and fresh banana, and it was pretty much the tastiest cereal I've ever had.
I haven't seen it since, and no amount of googling has helped me identify it.
