The whole coastline is free.
not safe for me as I am not a strong swimmer
In sydney, for best bang for buck, if your employer offers it, look for a Fitness passport.

34 rock pools in Sydney and they're all free!
Generally protected from the surf if you are not a strong swimmer and shallow enough to stand up in.

I want to do laps and practice my swimming technique
That's one of the primary uses of the rock pools. The vast majority of them are 25m with painted lane markings. Have a look at the website, or just go an observe your local rock pool. Most people are there swimming laps for fitness/fun!
Wow good to know thanks mate
What part of Shitney are you talking about?
Cronulla area, or Palm beach?

Have a friend in a high-rise serviced apartment? Ask if they can let you in, buy them a good bottle of whisky or wine when you're done.
