Sonny Tub Chairs

These pre-loved chairs have been rescued from a hire company no longer needing these for their business. Instead of it heading to landfill or being left unused, they've made their way to us in the hopes to find a new home. Furnish your home or business space with these stylish chairs!

The Sonny collection is the benchmark of the Midj design philosophy: to create pieces using soft shapes and forms, and mixing them with strong elements such as metal and timber. The wraparound design creates a comfortable and welcoming seat while the lacquered steel base ensures the stability needed for contract spaces.

About

Circonomy is a certified social enterprise on a mission to create a world without waste - including human potential.

Our "surprise chain" brings us a variety of quality products from the dormant stock of partnering suppliers and businesses, which includes items from previous seasons, overstock, or products that have been discontinued from their core range for example. These items might otherwise go unused or, worse, end up in landfill.

Our unique model gives these products a second life in a sustainable way, allowing us to offer them to you at more affordable prices. This approach not only helps prevent waste but also provides our customers with quality goods at lower prices.

Comparing old, used chairs with the prices of brand new chairs seems wrong. Unfortunately I don't see a bargain here, its an old, used chair, that was rented out to potentially hundreds or thousands of people.

Hey @Solidice! We can understand it might not be a bargain for you.

This product is a bit more designer, and while we did put a New price for comparison (also in UK pounds because that's how niche it was!), we also provided a hire price another company offers to provide some perspective on our pricing. We know ozbargainers like to go and check out the pricing anyway to compare our deals - so we wanted to take the work out of it for you.

We aim to rehome goods that would have otherwise been left laying dormant or headed to landfill, and our products are assessed and backed by a 12 month warranty - so we're not just about savings, but we're also about reducing waste and changing the way traditional businesses operate. While this might not be a deal for you, we do have other products that are brand new at great prices!

I'm with you solidice, just think of all the thousands of sweaty cock and balls draped all over this so called "designer" chair so we can jump at the chance to own one.

      • +1

I'm sure most people who previously sat in these had the good sense to wear pants - even the 50% who don't have cocks and balls.

We all hope but cannot by any measure guarantee, I hope they have been thoroughly steam cleaned if not re upholstered to get rid of at least some of the odorous reminiscences of times past.

          • @Donmega123: We do assess all the pre-loved goods that come our way and ensure they're fit for sale or rehoming! We also offer a 12 month warranty for ease of mind - even on our renewed goods.

sounds like reference is second used ex rental

I am surprised any chair that isn't a sofa is £385 ~AU$700 though

      • There's a market for everyone! Even Herman Miller chairs can go for a few hundred or thousand - our mission is to find a new home for goods no matter the original price so we can reduce unnecessary waste on goods with plenty of life left to give, and and reduce demand for new materials and resources.

Would be good to see a pic of underneath to check the construction method of the legs because chairs with timber splayed legs are notorious for becoming loose over time. Unless they have some kind of structural support as opposed to just 4 legs connected to the base.

$99 seems about normal price for a 2nd hand chair like these.

Step 1. "Save chairs from landfill"
Step 2. Charge people for the privilege of getting these chairs that were allegedly headed to landfill.

Anyone else see a problem here?

Hi @seanbaussie, we rescue and rehome goods from our partners to give a second chance to them.

These ones were no longer needed by the hire business, and traditional methods mean when you no longer need something, you leave it unused or throw it out.

As these are more designer, we do buy some products and resell them as some businesses don't have the resources or logistics to get value back from their dormant goods, and that's where we come in (we are a business after all!).

However we sometimes get products in our surprise chain that we can resell for even cheaper, or even give away for free! See this post here for one of our giveaways of office furniture and pedestals :)

No. A lot of good things go to landfill.
Their social enterprise is redirecting easily reusable seemingly high quality products.
Companies fold or move, if this place can rehome them in a way that is sustainable (which it wouldn't be if it were free), then that's a great resource to have.
Then a small business with low budget for their fitout, can get good chairs etc without buying "fast" furniture.
