Does CDG stand for Cutlery Design Genius?

      • +2

        It can be.

      • Not with that attitude!

  • +15

I've got one of these. It's fine, but there's not much reason for it to exist.

A regular butter knife does the same job.

    • +8

Oh man I was ready to buy it!

    • I have one for work, need to butter multiple loaves of bread. It's much nicer for that than a knife as you can hold more butter on it.

  • +7

It's not the size, it's the motion and techniques you use

    • +2

It's not the ocean, it's the size of the motion 🤣

      • You're not meant to take a dump directly into the sea.

        • +1

Why not? Every other species in there does.

    • +2

      Dont forget of the angle

  • I always use a sharp thin bladed knife to cut bread. So much better than these serrated knives, no crumbs.

    • +3

Serrated knives are meant to make cutting hard crusty breads easier. A thin bladed knife would be a little more difficult with those but will work great with softer crusts.

      • +6

        Cut it out you two

        • +1

          Which knife should we use?

  • +14

A bread-knife is a knife you cut bread with. This is not a bread knife, but a butter knife.

    • +14

I see you've played knifey buttery before

  • good for spreading pistachio cream

  • +1

Not a bread knife, which has teeth for cutting bread.

    • It has teeth - not giant ones like a normal bread knife, but is still serrated and likely useful for things like Crossaints, bagels and stuff like that.

I've ordered one, let's see how it goes.

I've ordered one, let's see how it goes.

If you heat it up a bit, it'll go like a hot knife through butter.

  • Get yourself an old bone handled butter knife, just the best. Dont put it in the dishwasher though.

    • +1. My go to knife for spreading stuff.

Not sure why someone would neg your suggestion though. Vegan I guess

  • Now I just need a butter fridge.

  • Not sure if mine is defective but rust built up on the serrated part.

  • Got the Stanley Rogers Pistol Grip Stainless Steel Spreader for $7 in 2021…still going strong
