To take advantage of this deal, you'll need an LG VIP account, which you can access if you have an edu.au email address.

This offer is particularly worthwhile if you're looking to save significantly on dry cleaning costs.

It's a solid deal, especially considering the current sale price is $2999.

Key Features:
Refresh, Deodorise, Helps Reduce Wrinkles and Exposure to Allergens
Delicate Clothing Care
Vanquish Odours with the Power of Steam
ThinQ®, Remotely Start or Monitor
Easy installation – no required plumbing

Trade in bonus of $300, it doesn't specify what eligible product is for trade-in, so I will be trading in my old Anko standing handheld steamer from Kmart.

Works out to be $1333 AUD.

Trade-in offer for new and existing MyLG Members: Offer is available when purchasing products from LG's online store and metro postcodes only. A MyLG member account is required and the offer is subject to the LG Online Store Terms and Conditions of Sale.. Customers can buy items at the advertised price, subject to stock availability. LG reserves the right to adjust prices and offer periods without prior notice. Discounts are non-transferrable and cannot be exchanged for cash. The LG Trade-in Program incentivizes the take-back of old eligible appliances by offering a trade-in discount when purchasing select LG refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and stylers. Take-back products hold no monetary value, and if the purchased item is returned for a refund, customers won't receive compensation for the take back product or trade-in discount. Customers must disconnect, unplug and remove from cavity or mounting the trade-in product ready for collection at the time of delivery of the new LG product. Failure to do so will result in a refusal to take back the old product and LG reserves the right to charge customers the equivalent to the trade-in discount.

Edit: @RayEarth2133 managed to get cashback from the education store in the past, this would bring the overall price down to $1541.55 using Shopback's 5.6% cashback. If you're using the trade-in bonus, overall cost now is $1258.35.

    What do the consumables cost?

    • Good question, looks like $30 from LG for a pack of 20 when they have it in stock. Though I don't think I will use their consumables.

Not worth it, space, time, running costs. Good quality garmet steamer does the job.

    • +3

      I duno it's more practical than a $1300 watch.

I can it's benefit for sure. No more ironing and it seems easy to use.

      • I can't find any reviews that show this effectively removing wrinkles to the extent you would not need to iron a business shirt, for example.

        • +2

          I haven't used this.

But I can confirm the travel hack of hanging a shirt in a hotel shower and running only hot water for a couple of minutes works pretty damn well. I haven't used an iron in about 6 months. It helps to also buy good non-iron shirts . (I have plenty of the Charles Tyrwhitt non-iron cotton ones). Standard cotton or linen needs an actual iron so I just don't buy those any more out of a hatred of ironing.
I also use this stuff when I wash which I can confirm makes a big difference

Why am I saying all this? I've kind of forgotten. But if the steamy shower method works (which it does in my case) I'd expect this expensive thing to work too.

  • Steam built in? Is this OLED version

    • No, But it does come with a built in sonic screwdriver if you get stuck inside.

    • No RGB either..

  • Anyone know if any restrictions on trade in? Can I trade in a small appliance for example?

    • Looks like a similar appliance and an Anko Iron won't cut it

"Remove packaging plus Remove old appliance of similar type/size"

      • !Remindme 1 Week

Want to see how the trade in goes! I can't see anything that makes it ineligible except this line:

        (f) if the Old Appliance does not match the description you provided, our delivery agent reserves the right to NOT collect or remove the Old Appliance;

Missus has been wanting one of these for a while and I can get it for this sort of price, I've got mega brownie points in the bag

        • Would be interesting as unlike phone trade in where the trade in company asks you to put in a pre auth for the trade in value, LG just takes $300 off.

They don't have the right to automatically further deduct $300 from your CC if you don't trade in. Hopefully given they don't intend to make money from the trade in (unlike the phone trade in companies) they will just let it go…haha

          • @RayEarth2133: I haven't tried but it looks like they already deduct the value from the invoice right? Surely they don't have authorization to take another payment out unless you've ticked a box somewhere

            • +1

              @aragornelessar: Correct that's my thought.

Where as when I traded in traded in the phone with JB recently it gave me $380 coupon but also did a further $380 pre auth on my card so that if I don't send the phone in it will deduct the $380 trade in value from my card.

        • I think the edu coupon expires in a few days so don't recommend waiting a whole week

    • +1

Worked for me, I had a second hand Anko Steamer (standing one).

Honestly the DHL delivery/installers didn't care if I provided them with a machine or not.

It does clearly say what you can trade in and it does say up to $300. https://www.lg.com/au/trade-in/ I think the deal is off can only see priced at $2999 even after login

    • +2

      Still works just purchased.

Went to the link doesn't say what you can trade in only what appliance is eligible for trade in. Anyway if it doesn't work then can get refunded no big deal.

    • No it doesn't. It states what types of new product LG offers the discount on

  • What's the difference between s5GOC and S5MB? Apart from colour? The mirror black is $300 cheaper still

    • The S5MB uses condenser heating the newer one uses heat pump. So I have purchased the newer one.

Will also try a cheapo kmart trade in!

      • Does it ask you to describe the item being traded in like the clause above?

        • Nope, it doesn't even ask.

      • which one from Kmart?

  • +2

I also combined it with 5.6% shopback. Last time I purchased the LG OLED the CB tracked and got paid out even with the edu coupon. So fingers crossed.

May want to add the 5.6% to the further discount to $1258 if it tracks and gets paid out. No guarantees of course

      Thanks, I've updated the post

  • anyone got thoughts just putting a steaming station at the bottom of one of these portable wardrobes instead?

ROFL. It'll leak, go mouldy and who knows if it'll be an electrical fire hazard. You could be on your way to a Darwin award

      • -1

ROFL you must never clean up your stuff between uses for it to go mouldy. You win a yucky award.

    • Got one years ago for drying clothes, if you separated with enough space the clothes come out alright, works best with "easy care" shirt.

Just got the machine delivered and installed today.

Can confirm that the DHL delivery drivers/installers does not care about the trade in. Their job is to remove the old appliance and were happy that they did not have to lift a heavy appliance when I gave them my old standing steamer.

    • great to hear, could you give us a mini review of what your thoughts are after you use it? The wife is interested in getting one!

      • +1

I have only used the normal refresh cycle. My verdict is that it works to remove odurs from my shirts but it did not remove the wrinkles or creases from my cotton shirt. However it's far too early for me to say as I've only used it once and have yet to try the other modes/cycles.

The normal refresh cycle takes 39 minutes and it's very quiet. A lot more quiet than I expected and when I checked the power consumption it was around 300-400W.

Would I pay the current sale price $2999 for this? Definitely not!

It's a lot more palatable at $1333 and I can see myself using the refresh cycle daily for my shirts and trousers to keep them fresh.

I will try the other modes tomorrow and see how they will go.

    • Yes would be great to get an opinion on its ability to de-wrinkle a cotton business shirt without ironing

      • See above comment, I will try again tomorrow and see if I can get it to de-wrinkle a cotton business shirt.

        • Great. The reviews are mixed from what I’ve read so great to get an ozbargainer view!

          • +2

@Appleboat: No problems, I chucked my cotton business shirt back in and I'm trying the "Normal Sanitary" mode. It's a 1hr39min cycle and will leave it overnight with the night care mode enabled (prevents humidity and dampness). I have taken a before photo and will take an after photo tomorrow.

            • @WaveZero: Thanks!

              • +2

@Appleboat: Here's the before and after using the normal sanitary mode: https://imgur.com/a/ZCBvw1C

It sucks at dewrinkling a 100% cotton shirt, I think it works better if the shirt isn't 100% cotton.

The refresh function works well though, it removed all of the odours from my shirt.

                • +1

@WaveZero: Thanks so much! That is my primary use case. My wife would have it for other things. Seems you saved me. Have a great weekend!

Confirming this offer works - they picked up an old steamer we had and installed the styler. DHL weren't fussed and were actually happy it wasn't a huge appliance.
Thanks for the deal OP! Got mega brownie points with the missus now
