This is the one shipping from Amazon direct, so I would assume authenticity is guaranteed…

    • +1

So you got one or still mulling over it?
That's the most they should cost, nice one.

      • +6

Yes because let’s face it, $22.76, I can’t even go out for a burger, fries and a ‘house’ beer for that these days.

        • +3

          Cool, fun pieces.

Free grilled chips, shake and win whopper $4
Beer would be the rest lol (12$/pint, any more is a piss take)

          • +1

@G-rig: Beer prices when eating out be outrageous these days

          • +8

@G-rig: I went to a pub in the city and had a schooner of craft beer - they charged me $14. Nearly choked when my mate went and bought two pints of craft beer (from the US) - it was $22 per pint.

Why the hell are pubs supplying craft beers from OS when Aussie craft brewers are struggling, and pubs are charging stupid prices like that?

Sorry, I digress - wrong forum for my whining.

        • +6

Remember when everywhere had a local takeaway joint that always smelt like a greasy chip? You were almost always assured of being able to get something for like $6, and it was guaranteed to to be better tasting then these architectural gourmet towers that are all the rage today, and which easily cost over $20. What ever happened to the humble ‘burger with the lot’? The sort that left an unholy mess as you ate it but was oh-so-tasty. And a minimum serve of (often soggy) chips covered in a heart attack inducing amount of salt was $1.50 & wrapped in last week’s newspaper? What you washed it down with was optional, whether a thick shake that would collapse your straw as you tried to draw it up or an icy cold Passiona or Solo - whatever it was likely cost less than $2.

Oh, nice watch, too. thumbs up

      • Still got a month to go to build his 80's Guy halloween costume.

        • +1

          Build?
Already got all the parts of the puzzle as my daily wear

    • +2

I bought a fake one from ebay once, it looked very similar to the original. I only noticed it was fake after a long while when I noticed the time had drifted significantly.

  • +14

Upvoted for the description. Love it!

  • +1

    Thanks. Got one.

  • +4

    Upvoted for the write-up.

Nothing beats the Casio Solar Digital Watch I got 10 years ago though. Still alive and kicking and looks just as new as the day I bought it.

    • +3

Nice one mate, that’s probably one of the last times catch wasn’t just a literal dumping ground of garbage ‘deals’

    These are the bomb

    timer

    • +1

I thought you said it was a bomb?

No I said it was THE BOMB!

      • Can be used as the timer in a bomb, maybe.

        • Me: stopping the timer at 0:01 like some kind of bomb defusal expert

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: You: Having to press the button multiple times because it's a F91W so timer hits 0:00 and you go boom (but it's OK, you couldn't see time since the LED is the one from the F91W :) )

  • +2

I gave this watch to my brother for Christmas, telling him it's the celebrity-worn Casio he's always wanted.

  • +4

Love these watches. Every time you see someouelse wearing one it's a beautiful time. I once got a picture with 4 people all wearing the same watch.

  • +7

If anyone is interested - the Casio A158WA-1 Model is on offer too.
Casio Men’s A158WA-1 unisex watch with stainless steel band https://amzn.asia/d/4ekwmB0 @ $30.16 cheaper than last deal

    • +4

If budget goes that far I think it’s a nice upgrade.
The bracelet is not hairy arm friendly but.

      • +1

        Fix: Wax wrist first

Bonus: Waxed wrist will help when trying to pass airport security

    • Is the EL worth the upgrade to $70?

      • +1

Coming up as $60. I wouldn't pay that so no, maybe $40. It's just a dressier look, but the steel bands are quite comfortable (just super light). Id lol at an a1000 from tictacarea for $120.

        $60 better spent perhaps:

Surfed with this and broke it. Fairly indestructible and retro chic but has its limits.
    Cracking watch though

  • +2

my gardening and heavy lifting DIY time companion.

Nostalgia mode activated - this was the very first watch my parents bought me when I was in primary school over 35 years ago…

  • +3

Celebrities love the Casio F91W-1. Garth wears one in Wayne's World. Napoleon Dynamite also wears one.

    • +2

      Osama bin Laden did also.

  • +3

They've made a new minimalist F91W-1 based on this timeless classic

    https://www.casio.com/intl/watches/casio/product.F-91WB-1A/

    • Actually kinda nice especially the blue - $50 nice though ? Hmm

      • They are still without a doubt over hyped. I wouldn't spend more than 20-25$, yes they are cool but not as big as the pictures would make you think, and the band sits funny on me (top side). Returned the F105W as well (that one is good with illuminator) and got an a1000 and done with it lol

      • +1

I want one, looks so sleek. Also picked up a F84W-1 JDM spec for like 1500yen earlier this year. I have too many casios.

    • +2

Not bad, but doesn’t have the same charm imo

  • +2

Own one personally, only complaint is the watch is getting 1 to 2 minutes inaccuracy over a month or two.

    • +4

      Yeah that's too much.
Probably need to buy a handful and keep the best one.

      • +3

Smash the most out of sync one every month to scare the others into line. This is exactly what SpaceX does.

Not to hijack your thread, but only 1 casioak in an interesting blue left

Im less of a fan of this one but also on the cheaper side
    transparent casioak

    • I love transparent or transparent colour anything (like the 90s transparent colour game boys) but mannnnn that combo looks hard to quick read. The price is right though!

Got one!….still works after so many decades….

Even my FX82 calculator…still works. Guess I'm vintage too.

    • Don't worry brother. Back then people and items were both tankier

    • +2

      fx82

      Wow

Not me giving my backup fx82 to the cutie Vietnamese baddie in maths c back in the day when she forgot hers - hoping she would notice me… only to never see it again…

Sometimes I still wonder about that particular calculator.

      • +1

I've done this, never saw the watch again

  • +1

As an ozbargainer, it looks like a great deal but I'm unsure if I have a use case for it - wearing a casioak.

    • +2

      use case

      Straight to the pool room

    • This is Casioak's big daddy - it if wasn't a hit then Casio would have $0 and Casioak would never have been born

  • +2

got this for my kid as it's small enough.

It does have a scratch on it already though, but it's still a great buy

  • Any idea will the wristband fits an 8 years old?

    • Should be fine mate
If you have prime just send it back … or let them grow into it.

    • Definitely. It looks so tiny. Perfect for kids. I got this one for my 10yr old. It fits perfect.

    • Yes, fits my 6yo

  • How long will the battery last for?

I just have one watch that needs battery replacement every 1-1.5 years. But I take around half a year to get the battery replaced and go watchless for a few months. Hoping this could be my standby watch

    • +1

I’d say at least 5 years?

I’d just buy a new one. The old watch shop I used to go to to change and supply a battery was only charging $15 but out of business now. I dont think I could buy and change the battery for less than $20 of effort and batteries in single qtys are surprisingly expensive for local stock.

    • +2

I got one from 2014 and still have not changed the battery, its still working. The resin strap completely tore a couple years ago and had to replace that with a custom strap.

  • Don't wear it through US Customs

    • Step 1: don’t look suss
Step 2: don’t look like you’re not trying to be suss

      • +1

        Step 3: Repeat

  • Hmm this or the calculator casio?

    • if there was a good deal, i would say calculator casio all day everyday.
love my DBC611G-1D - the clasp on the bracelet is a bit soso though.

  • -5

So they keep the time and have a stop watch? Anything else? Phone can already do that.

  • +1

    A+ on the 4chan post 👏🏻

    • +1

Couldn’t figure out how to use > without making quoted text blocks lmao

  • -3

Great write up and awesome watch. I think it’s the most popular watch in the world by sales volume, so you can’t really go wrong there.

However, sorry for the only neg on such a popular deal. The reason for the neg is because you can often get it 30% cheaper, using a normal Australian eBay account from several different stores. That includes the cost of Sydney metro delivery, and yes they are authentic stock too.

I’ll withdraw this neg if I’m not correct.

    • +1

and yes they are authentic stock too.

Just two of the sites. There are several more all between 15 and 18 AUD including delivery. Just search Casio F91W-1 in the search field.

Edit: You need to check the ‘Brand’ field in the spec for Casio for the authentic ones.

        • +1

If the photo is accurate, they are fake. There is no little u under the word RESIST to the bottom right.

          • @FabMan: Is the little u actually a thing? Because I've just received this from Amazon and it's not there?

            • @toastface: Not an expert, but take a look:

              https://youtu.be/cNnkDyGgvGk?si=LPswnMKuiUSAeNgr

Let us know how it compares

              • +1

@FabMan: Thanks for sending this. I did read just before that apparently they don't add the U anymore. After watching that video I believe this Amazon one to be legit.

                • +1

@toastface: Shipped and sold by Amazon had the U on my f105w. Depends on the country of manufacture, it was a good way to counter buying fakes. The LCD test, correct screws on back and either China or Thailand on the back are the main things to check. Wouldn't worry too much about the packaging but nice when you get the Legit warranty card.

Anyway they are only about 20$ so would be fine either way, still not G-Shock quality or price to worry about.

                  • +1

@G-rig: Yep it's cheap, but still good to know it's not fake. Would've sent it back.

    • +3

      Fake for 18$, haha.

          • -2

@G-rig: Links above for just two of the stores. There are several more.

Second link has over 2,000 votes and >99% positive feedback.

            • -1

@heartychat: Just check country of manufacture, see if it's got that small letter etc etc. sound like you are squabbling over 6$ difference.

              • -2

@G-rig: Funny. The same could be said about you in refuting the facts. Happy for you to check the country and let us all know if there is an issue.

I thought this site was sharing factual deals within the rules and guidelines. It’s a good deal ($22.76 PLUS DELIVERY ain’t much), but not the cheapest around at this time, as per the guidelines. It works out to be over $30 for me delivered, which is 80% higher in total costs.

                • @heartychat: Wow
$18 vs $22.70. Times are tough but I'd prefer to get a genuine one from Amazon.

Anyway do your own research, as mentioned
these are the most copied watch of any.

                  • -1

@G-rig: $16.99 vs $30.75 for the same thing i.e. genuine stock. I agree that you should do your research.

You haven’t come back with one truly comparable and verified fact, while I have done so four times now. Bye.

    • +4

I think you'll find that they're fakes. I bought one for $18 off eBay a couple of months ago and it came in a little plastic bag in an envelope with nothing else. At first I thought it was legit, but upon further inspection and doing some research, I found out it was a fake, albeit a decent one.

There were a few stand outs; the little "U" under RESIST was too large, it said "Made in Malaysia" on the back, and the LED light was much too bright.
A few less noticeable things; the font and spacing of the characters on the underside of the band were different to a legit one, there were some rough/sharp edges on the buckle, and the tiny screws that hold the backplate on had a different head to the genuine ones.

Apart from those things, the watch itself looks and works fine. I ended up buying a genuine one off Amazon and giving the fake one to my 4 year old nephew. He loves it :)

  • Now $26?

    • Turns out Amazon now charges more for an item if you're a prime member having it delivered to a rural location

      • How much more? Get it sent to work, friends, move to a suburb, go to the shops instead?
