This is an amazing price given our wonderful 6-monthly automatic alcohol tax increase occurred at the start of august increasing the tax by another $2/L to $103.89/litre of alcohol.
For this bottle you have $37.75 price
GST: 3.43
Alcohol Tax: $29.09 (40%ABV * 0.7L * 103.89)
Total Tax: $32.52 or 86% of the priceSo Dans and Dimple get to split a massive $5.23 or 14% of the price, the government takes the rest….

some craft breweries will never get the economies of scale or market share to be viable in the long term, and younger people are drinking less, and alcohol is discretionary spend vs paying rent, so i’m surprised there are still as many craft breweries,

Coles has cancelled my order twice because I suspect it was too good of a deal. I opted for delivery and paid $3.50 more. Let's see if it arrives tomorrow…

My order last week of a scotch got cancelled too. When I spoke to the Coles guy at the store he told me that all orders placed for pick-up between 4pm-6pm were cancelled as they didn't have a staff member with an RSA to hand the orders out. Not sure how true this was. He suggested re-ordering for pickup between 12pm-2pm (hard when you work) but I tried anyway and it was (convieniently for Coles) out of stock.
@FPIFS: Complete BS. I got the same excuse. Here's my experience.
Wed 21/08 - deal was posted around 5pm. I put in an order that evening and was confirmed via email for C&C pickup Thursday 6-8pm.
Thur 22/08 - I turn up to the service counter at 6:30pm to tell them I am there to pick up my C&C order. The lady looked confused and said we don't have any pending C&C order. I showed her the confirmation email, she looked it up on the system and said, "it's been cancelled. You should have received an email". So I check my junk mail and there it is, email at 1:30pm saying it was cancelled. She then said, "check with liquorland in case they have the order". I said, "I ordered from ColesOnline, not liqourland". So then I went to liquorland to check and the lady there said we don't have any such order but she was kind enough to try and match it. But a Dalwhinnie 15 + double black @ $122 was too low for her to match. I went back to Coles counter and asked why it was cancelled. She basically said because there was no one with an RSA in the afternoon hence why it was cancelled. so then who here has an RSA? lady was like, 'Me, but I am evening shift 5pm-10pm so it must've been cancelled because the RSA person for morning/afternoon is currently on leave. But if you put an order in again for tomorrow pick up, I can process it for you. So at the desk there I put the order in again.
Fri 23/08 - called at 1pm confirming my order is received. The lady on the phone said, "there is no one with RSA to process this". I said, "LEAVE IT IN THE SYSTEM AND THE LADY WHO COMES IN AT 5PM WILL PROCESS IT. I DON'T WANT IT TO GET CANCELLED". The lady said, "it's most likely going to get cancelled but I'll get my store manager to call you back at 2pm. Waited until 3pm and no phone call. Checked my junk mail and again… cancelled. That is when I realised that "no one with RSA to process your order" is just an excuse for them not to honour bargains. Instead I ordered online and paid $3.50 more for delivery+packaging. And I got my order in this morning.Thank you for reading.
@gezza90: had the issue as well, I am gonna try getting delivery, because their excuse is that my account had a "technical issue" and they refused to provide any sort of alternative way to get it sorted, even though I offered to pay again when I go to pick it up and wait for online order refund.

States don’t levy taxes on liquor - that is a federal excise. Not sure what the reason would be but rather annoying…
