So we've seen the reports on intel 13th & 14th gen chips gradually breaking, crashing and generally being pretty average.
I'm doing my annual purchasing rounds and wondering if this is something I should really be taking into account? Should I be buying AMD this year?
Thoughts? Opinions?
In theory if you get a new cpu and have updated the bios to one with the new microcode (0x129), it shouldn't really matter as the voltage shouldn't be spiking to dangerous and degrading levels anymore.
That said, 14th gen is the last of that platform, the new LGA1851 socket + Z890 mobos + Core Ultra launches in 2 months, while AMD claim to support the AM5 socket out to 2027.
What really worried me more was the entire response screamed of 100 lawyers on retainer, attempting to not say anything that would sound remotely like taking responsibility. Which obviously isn't a great look if you're a customer.
