It might be worth explaining what this actually is in the description.

    • -6

      Why?

    • The first paragraph describes the product quite cleary. Any person who is into gaming will understand. Click the link for a more descriptive detail.

      • The first paragraph was added after the deal was posted.

But I still maintain why was it was needed. People posting deals don’t have a responsibility to educate people. Click the link and read if you don’t know what a product is.

The people complaining haven’t submitted a single deal of their own. The entitlement is strong.

Complaining? Old mate provided advice on how to improve OP posting. It was legitimate advice. If you really want to get into it, there is a certain level of responsibility of justifying why what you posted was a deal. There are plenty of attempts to post nonsense that is obviously not a deal. Explaining at-least a high level what you're posting and why it a deal is pretty full proof way of justifying it.

No one is obligated to do anything but if someone want to participate in a community, they should be open to the practices and suggestions of that community.

It’s Launchbox Premium. Need to know more, click the link.

Like you? Two deals posted in 9 years of membership.

they should be open to the practices and suggestions of that community.

I’ll take on suggestions about how to contribute from those who do contribute.

            • @PainToad: Lmao, I appreciate your passion over a comment.
Credit where it's due - when you post your bargains, for the most part, you are actually providing a brief description of what it is.

I would suggest that a description of the product is a courtesy to everyone who is not already familiar with the product.
If you are willing to take the time out of your day to post about it, why not go the extra mile for everyone?

Mine is not the only comment of ignorance, so evidently there is an issue at play here.. but that's okay. Sit on your high horse mate.

(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.

Launcbox is a front end for emulators - just like the free alternative - Emulation Station, or Retrobat which uses Emulation Station - but includes / installs all the supported PC emulators when used on Windows. If you prefer a standalone linux based emulation package (using Emulation Station as the front end) then download and try Batocera (self booting linux O/S which can be launched from a USB drive. ie: have windows installed on your mechanical, SATA SSD or nvme drive.. but choose to boot from usb in the bios and it'll load striahgt into Batocera).

  • LaunchBox is basically a frontend for emulated games, works with RetroArch etc.

In simple terms think of it like Plex but for games - it takes your games library and displays it nicely and you can launch everything from one place. Basically its a program that manages all your emulators and games/roms. You "import" your games and it cross references it with a database and downloads the metadata for the game (think pics, videos, manuals, etc). I've been using it for years and currently have 36,000 games loaded on there over 22TB+.

damn son! and I can't even scroll past the first few pages of my steam library.

how many of those 36k have you played?

      • +1

Probably a few hundred at least

    • Must've taken ages for you to drink all those games;)

Playnite is a great free open source alternative too.

  • Playnite is free and does most of what launchbox does.
