Any issue buying Ryobi 18V ONE+ JUMP STARTER KIT from overseas?

I am considering buying Ryobi 18V ONE+ JUMP STARTER KIT and have it sent to Australia. I dont want to buy a dedicated portable jump start battery that will just sit in the shelf. Ryobi jump starter kit at least I can use the battery for something else.

My question, will I encounter compatibility issue in Australia? The kit comes with a battery, will I even be able to send it here?

  • Do you have a link?

I've bought Ryobi One+ tools from US before they're available here and no issues,

I wouldn’t anticipate compatibility issues, those 18v batteries are worldwide. Interestingly, the jumpstarter does not jump start the car from the 18v battery directly, rather, the 18v battery chargers a capacitor, which in turn jump starts the car… presumably the capacitor has a better ability to provide a high amp output (compared to the 18v battery).

That makes sense; a small tool battery won't be able to put out enough current to jump start a car.

An alternative is a supercapacitor jumpstarter that can be charged from a cigarette lighter, USB power bank, or even the residual charge in a car battery if it isn't too flat. That means you can keep it in the car and not need to have a charged tool battery on hand.

  • That's interesting
I just assumed that all of the ryobi tools would be available in Australia

  • The item is available without the battery for USD179. At the AUD equivalent of about AUD270 surely you could find a product here for a lot less?

  • Check some reviews as their inverters (240v) are crap! No where need the rated capacity.
