Iceberg lettuce $1.5 ? Inflation going down? 😂 It was $11.99 about 2 years ago from the news below …

    https://www.theguardian.com/food/2022/jun/03/why-does-this-i…

“Consumers need to understand prices won’t go back to the way they were. That’s to do with various things every Australian is dealing with, like high fuel costs”

Quoted from the news above …

    • I mean iceberg lettuce was an outlier and was never going to actually stay at $12. That doesn't mean inflation is going down, it's one product.

Clearly that news article was wrong, wasn't it

Not if you read it and understand the context.

  • +1

Got bok choy, coriander, leek ($2) and some imperfect tomatoes for $5 this morning. Finally some value shopping for healthy food..

Hope to see a tray sale on strawberries and blueberries soon :)

  • Icebergs at $1.50 are decent but I do have to wonder why everything at Harris Farm is always "2 for twice the price of 1" lol

Surely people aren't that stupid 😂

    • Surely people aren't that stupid

      You'd be surprised

People don't read the fine print, most of them just want to get home and are in a rush

      • I mean if it works it works right 😂

If that what it takes to provide cheaper prices I'm all for it!

  • Was there yesterday (Cba store) for the first time. Huge range but you need to know standard supermarket prices before you shop. Some of their (HF) specials are on very inflated prices (eg cheese).

Icebergs were pretty small and double the deal price+ iirc. Coriander was $2/bunch. They had perfectly good "imperfect" parsnips and red grapefruit going cheap.

  • pity our Harris Farm closed in Penrith years ago
