Watchdepot Seiko Presage SRPE43J Manhattan Cocktail Time

The gorgeous Seiko Manhattan SRPE43J is on special at both starbuy and watch depot this weekend. From my little knowledge it seems like a good deal.
In my opinion one of the best looking Seiko presage watches. I would personally buy it if i hadn't already purchased 3 watches this month like a lunatic.
Starbuy's stock is low with under 10. Watch depot seems to have abit more.

Features:
Case Diameter: 38.5mm
Case Thickness: 11.8mm
Case Material: Stainless Steel
Presage Collection
MANHATTAN
4R35 Movement
Hand Winding
Exhibition Case Back
Pull-Out Crown
Hardlex Glass

Looking forward to everyone's opinion on this one. Especially on the face!

    That's what she said.

  • Very nice

Glad I am not the only lunatic here, hello friend 😊

  • Whats the glass on this one please.
    Nevermind it's hardlex

    • why is that bad? ELI5

      • +1

hardlex = plastic = more easily scratched than sapphire

        • +1

But given the boxy shape of the crystal hardlex makes more sense to be hardlex as its more resistant to hits.

It will get scratched more though..

Hardlex isn't plastic. It's Seiko's proprietary mineral glass. But yes, it's not as scratch resistant as sapphire. And it's unlikely (if not very very difficult at least) to be able to be buffed out.

Seriously I would buy this if I had not bought the Land Tortoise and the King Turtle within 1 week lol.

What the hell watch depot and starbuy, dropping amazing Seiko sales left right and center, good thing my self control has been good this time around I made it past the tortoise, padi and now this one. But if they drop the Speedtimer…. now that's a different story.

    • Seiko deals are the Harris Scarfe of the watch world.

  • Ah the Manhattan - almost bought this a couple times but remembered i don't want an automatic watch. On the other hand that dial…

  • +1

Looking for something like this with sapphire glass, titanium (and eco-drive). Haven't had any luck.

  • It's difficult to find a more beautiful dial than the presage cocktail series in this price range.

I had 2 presages cocktail time already, otherwise…. I'd get this one in a heartbeat.

I have a Bulova Rat Pack limited edition and it works as a good presage deterrent.

can't convince myself to get a rival for it

      • Ooh very nice…

        • I haven't seen it discussed much, but I like unique things.

dial is minimalistic and a real eye catcher, gold and black look perfect for past midnight bar setup, or jazz concert alike

not huge at 40mm, with a beautiful smooth sapphire glass with a subtle magnifying effect towards edges

it was the right kind of investment that helped me keep away from I think all if the watch deals this year so far, it's that good, and nothing similar comes close.

my daily beater is Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with titanium band, because I kind of need those notifications on my wrist in my line of work, plus I can swim in it if it comes to that

I think the combination of the two saved me quite a few hundred bucks in the long run lol

Had a bit of a look in Vintage Watch Co today to see if there was anything interesting, pretty sure this was one of the Presage models they had. But damn, all of this dress style Presage really looked good under lights. The dials are mesmerising.

And nothing wrong with hardlex on a dress watch in my opinion.

It would be more appropriate and helpful to post the context of what happened to you rather than just saying you 'got burnt'.

    • Seems Starbuy were reasonable in your case. I've had a few cases where a retailer has run out of stock with no compensation.

    no sapphire… :(

  • Damn. Missed out.
