"Lets Confirm It's You" Pop up When Purchasing Online

Twice recently while purchasing online I received this

"Let's confirm it's you"

Pop up when clicking on "Checkout" but before choosing a payment option, it was a pop up contained within the page, not a new browser window.

My phone number was displayed as xxxx xxx with the last 3 numerals visible, the phone number was out of date, so whatever database it pulled the details from was not up to date.

There was an option to receive an email instead of a text, the email address was correct.

First time I cancelled the pop up and the purchase was successful, so it's a useless idea!

Second time I used the email option, received a code and entered that before proceeding.

Had to ring my bank today as someone said it was them, they said no (plus the pop up appeared before choosing a payment option) and my details are correct with my bank as the reason I rang is they wanted to confirm all details, my phone number was updated with them when the new number was issued some time ago.

Purchased something today from Myer online … this pop up did not appear!

Where is this coming from and how do I get the information corrected?

They are referring to the shop.app website powered by Shopify, which is what many stores use for their checkout.

I am not sure of the process, but you could start here.

        • Thanks, Appreciated!

What a joke, only thing I could do was erase my information, attempting to adjust my information after creating a "shopify customer account" resulted in a loop between "Choose an account" page and the "Personal Information" page, there was only a "Continue" button on the "Personal Information" page which looped me back to the "Choose an account" page

          FFS!

it really isn't, but anyway, this is the shop app platform on Shopify. So you are buying things from Shopify stores, entering your email address which is linked to your mobile number and user account.

      It isn't?

Why was I able to purchase without ID'ing myself …. useless!

  • Normal, it's just 3D secure or a variant of it.

    Shopify scares me.

  • I hate this pop up, keep asking me to confirm and sending me the SMSs.
