    Vegetarian “mutton”? Sounds interesting.

    • +16

Yep, usually made of soy protein and/or mushroom stalk.

  • Including dinner time ?

    • +4

Yes, my partner and I went for dinner the last few years. Be prepare to wait at least 30 minutes.

      • -2

        Can we do take away?

        • +3

          Yes. Please read the OP

        • +2

Do note that this is up to the individual store's discretion.

Last year on the last day of promo, Doncaster (Westfield), Nunawading and Southbank outlets changed to 'dine in' only from lunch time onwards. (They were really busy on the last day)

(I happily took away on the second last day of the promo, and thought I could have the same the next day, but was disappointed when when I went back the next day.

            @inoq: Thanks inoq.

          • +1

@inoq: yep when i went to doncaster last year it was dine in only and that was from the time they opened.

  • -1

Make sure when u order meat takeaway even the person who handed it over to you checked right in front of you, you should open the takeaway box and make sure there is meat there!!!
I bought chicken rice it didn't have chicken !!!

    $10 @ PappaRich

    How much at PappaPoor?

  • +9

PappaRich used to be decent like around 10 years ago. Now the quality has really gone downhill.

    • Yupe, the last time I had it in Paramatta several years ago, it was a really sloppy nasi lemak, disgusting.

      • +5

Parramatta has probably the worst shop for this.. and Mamak's as well.
Only thing that's been good here for decades is Temasek

        • Temasek is family run, i believe the mum passed it over to the son now. Papparich went downhill once they started reheating most of their foods , except for the rotis.

        • What's good to eat at Temasek ?

          • +2

@whyisave: Depends for lunch or Dinner?
Hoi Nan Chicken, Nasi Goreng, Laksa, Nasi Lemak, Chow Quay Dil etc.

Dinner pre-order Singaporen crab. Bit more expensive, but close as you get to eating it in Singapore.

          • +2

@whyisave: their chicken rice is good

    • +1

It used to be passable around 10years ago. Mainly because of the endless sambal.

      • Did they offer endless sambal back then?

    • cockburn central WA is good

      • +1

Cockburn is a wild name for a suburb.

        • +2

          Stresses the importance of lubrication.

          • +1

@Tiggrrrrr: Slip slop slap if you're going to sunbake in the nuddy

      • Sold out Fried Chicken last night at 6:00pm.

    • +3

Don’t ever go to pathetic parramatta store it use to be good a couple of yrs ago but went there last week it was horrible will never go there again

      • Try Chatswood, never had a bad meal from there.
the nasi lemak burger was awesome, roti always good too

    • I feel sick once after eating there

  • +1

    Is it 1 per person?

    • Anyone confirm?

      • Depends on the store. Westfield Doncaster had a three per person limit.

  • +8

I tried the curry for 15 dollars just a few weeks ago and the food was old, unfresh, and just pure trash. Loved this place 10 years ago, now it's just awful. Bad deal at any price.

    • +1

Yup, most of their food isnt cooked fresh anymore but reheated, even their rice.

    • +1

Why are people down voting you ?

      • Could be that some don't share the same opinion and used the fact that opinion is used as a ground for neg vote on this post. IMO I think down voting on comments should be visible.

  • +9

I must admit there are better Malaysian places. but at $10 I'll get one

    • I'm the same.

  • +11

Gotta pay me to eat at papparich

If you want $10 all day everyday Malaysian meals there are places like nan yang (multiple branches in Vic), which includes a whole lot on the menu for $10 incl

    • Curry chicken nasi lemak (plain avail for $6.90)
    • Hainanese chicken rice
    • Pork noodles soup & dry
    • Penang curry mee
    • Chee Cheong fan (both curry & sweet sauce option)
    • Chicken chop rice or noodles
    • Sarawak noodles
    • Braised pork knuckle rice
    • Congee
    • Sarawak laksa (not the same as curry laksa)
    • Etc for $10 flat

It's nothing amazing but it beats papparich any day.

    • +5

Nanyang nasi lemak is always $10 correct, but the portion is much smaller and there was no sambal for vegetarian nasi lemak. The curry laksa was also lackluster, when I had it the last time.

I won't pay full price for papparich but at $10 it's a better choice than Nanyang

    • +1

Seems like most Malaysians have some unarticulated dislike of Pappa Rich…. I'm curious what it might be…

    • +2

      It's like $18.90 - $20.90 here in Sydney.

    • +1

Most Malaysians are also Muslim so they would like to eat at halal establishments. Many which are Chinese Malaysian restaurants, or those which serve pork, are not halal and therefore unsuitable. And many halal restaurants are not cheap either. FYI.

    • yeah that one near the glen always has great deals

  • +6

Just a heads up, Last time they had this deal, by like 12pm or 12:15pm, The Papparich near my work had RUN OUT of RICE???? For the day so i could not get this deal.

    • +5

      dodgy as f

    • +6

      RUN OUT of RICE

lol that's like KFC running out of chicken

    • Yeah rice

  • +2

Is it true that these people don't really COOK the food fresh, they just heat up frozen products?

    • For alot of their menu items yes. The roti is still cooked fresh.

    • +3

i knew someone who worked part time there previously, said meat was prep fresh daily. sauces/spices are prepackaged so taste is strictly controlled.

  • -1

I guess we can only take away 1 if only 1 person show up ?

    • I tried to find T&C but this promotion isn't even listed on their website..

      • Open to individual stores then to set rules that is convenient

        • Yeah, bit of a shame. I guess it's hit and miss to see how the employees feel that day.. 😪

  • -2

Anyone knows if we can call them and order ahead for takeaway ?

  • Makan time.

  • +1

got one at macquarie centre accept shopback payment until about 11:35am serve by a friendly guy with glasses.

but soon after a big tall semi bald guy take over not accept shopback pay method is a promotion itself or sign up offer.

head up people who wanna try. i may got lucky then my friend did not

    • how was the food taste wise? worth even $10?
I think the normal price is like $5-6 more

  • Great, tried to ring them, engaged, then retried 20 mins later, no one pick up the phone until it rangs out.

    • the food isnt that tasty for u to ring them after 20mins.

      • Rang more than 15 times and still no answer or engaged. Pathetic.

  • +1

My local says it's permanently closed, even though it's not.. And even weirder is the franchise is not listed on their website (even as "permanently closed" as one or two other stores are officially on their website..)

I might just pop down and see what happens. They might just flat out deny the deal because technically they're not even an official franchise..? 🤷‍♂️

  • Was takeaway only at a Point Cook, VIC.

Considering it was advertised as dine in or takeaway on the advertisement and signage, it was pretty misleading and a disappointing experience.

    Hello ACCC.

  • Takeaway limit is 2 per person ! And unable to book a table, have to walk in and it is cold and windy outside.

    • +2

At least they let you take away more than 1. Last time I went with my daughter to takeaway 2, and they only let me have 1, "kids don't count"

  • Brisbane only has 2 outlets now, Cooparoo and Indoorpilly.
It’s sad because we have tried very hard to support and promote them….

  • +1

Went to the store at World Square in Sydney at 6:30PM and it was already sold out

    • Only the Fried Chicken was sold out. I went there at 7pm last night

  • Long line at Macquarie right now. Anyone know how long the wait is for takeaway?

  • I ate at PappaRich last week, and chose Beef Rendang - when I told the girl at the cash register she said 'what kind?' - I was 'huh - I thought that was a dish!' - but nah, they have a variety 'with' beef rendang - 'Roti Canai with Beef Rendang, Roti Telur with Beef Rendang, Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang' - https://www.papparich.net.au/menu

I almost turned and walked away, but meh - it's okay - their sauces are authentic enough so we'll eat there every 3-6 months or so

    celebrate Malaysia 31/8 so offer a discount 27-28/8 ? Don't be L8 !

  • +1

today we went to wynyard station store. long line but fast efficient friendly staff. no attitude using shopback or sign up offer. just head down get orders done. now we know the guy at macquarie store yesterday just have stingy attitude man at the counter

  • Went to Chatswood instead. Short wait for table for 1, no problem paying with Shopback. Wasn’t very filling but for $8.50 it was a tasty lunch.
