I think this is the first time this has been discounted since they launched it. I have no idea if it is good or not mine arrived today and I haven't tried it yet

Is this the same remote as Fire TV 4k Max?

Only for Fire TV i guess wont work on a Fetch box with Prime app

    • Nah, they all come with more basic versions of this remote. This is a more advanced one, with extra functions.

(Even the Fire TV Cube comes with basic remote)

  • Got my firestick lite dongle with remote was only $19. Can't justify the price

  • If the remote was rechargeable, it would have been worth the money. Otherwise except really for a couple of shortcut buttons, very hard to justify the price. I would rather save $$ and buy the new google streamer that comes with a similar remote.

Also available on JB, $29 with welcome coupon is worth it I reckon.

I've had it for a while, it's a decent upgrade for the backlit buttons, the two shortcut buttons and bluetooth headphone pairing button. Find my remote function works well enough with alexa.

  • Can it control AV receivers? Fire stick is connected to HDMI port. The current one is 4k max and it can't the volume.

    • That needs to happen over HDMI CEC and doesn't really depend on the remote. If your 4K max remote ain't doing it, then this wouldn't either.

    • Does your AV receiver have an IR remote? The Fire Stick remote has a pretty big database of remotes so I would have thought you'd find one that works. From memory "Equipment Control" in settings, you can add your receiver from there and run through the setup to test which is the right IR settings for your device.

If it's a bluetooth remote probably wont have much luck directly via the fire stick remote apart from CEC over HDMI as nokia3660 says. Firestick is usually on automatic for that, might also need to check receiver settings to make sure its enabled.

      • Thanks will try if it works. AV has IR remote.

  • Anyone find the battery cover comes off really easy on Amazon remotes?

    • Apparently they've fixed that with the latest revision..

I got a glow in the dark silicone cover from Temu for a few bucks that also solves that problem.

  • This one is really nice, it has back lit buttons which is really handy if watching in the dark. Its also shorter than the recent remotes (simular to the original remote length)

  • can it link up to multiple fire TVs at once?
