Anyone Have a Service Manual for Westinghouse WHE6874 Fridge?

I have a Westinghouse WHE6874 fridge. When I came down this morning the control panel was showing 88 EE. I tried turning it off, waiting, then turning it on again, and now it's showing JJ (really: two backwords capital L letters) and two symbols that look like a little square/circle above a line. I can't find any service manuals online - does anyone know what these codes mean?

Service manuals are usually different to consumer user manuals.

  • That's a user manual, not a service manual. It doesn't have diagnostic error codes. I did think of looking online before asking.

      Cool.

Have you actually followed the instructions in the manual that you read?

Call your Electrolux service representative, who can interpret any messages or number codes flashing on the digital displays.

Yes. That turns out to be inaccurate. What they can do is tell you that there is no list of error codes in the manual, and offer to book a service call.

I mean, it is accurate. They can interpret it, but they're holding you at ransom to pay for a service call.

          Is it under warranty?

I'm surprised that these error codes aren't readily available online like washing machines etc.

      • If people are willing to risk fixing fridges by themselves, they should be able to, in my opinion.

Like this guy who ended up fixing his fridge by replacing (soldering) a dollar part onto a circuit board.

It made me think about how many whitegoods/appliance manufacturers deliberately under-spec components knowing there will be failure after a few years.

Planned obsolescence isn't just limited to iphones.

        • I suspect his insurance will void if his repair catches fire.

  • Have you tried looking at a 'similar' model's manual to see if the helps?

    eg.

    • That's a really good suggestion, unfortunately that particular model isn't similar enough to help. I couldn't find another one that was. But thanks for trying!

Use Google Lens on your phone to search for the image of the error code and see if you get any results?

      Good find…

Error code 88 EE: Beer too warm…

Error code JV on printer: Prints in BOLD only.

        • More like random words are bold.
