Nah the problem with the cheaper ones is that they don't retain the ice. Say i leave it in the car with a bag of ice after a beach fishing session i get a bucket of water. Looking for something that can keep the fish chilled
If you leave it in the car, is it an option to go 12v powered?
I got a fridge freezer but i wouldnt put freshly caught fish in it until i have prepped it and sealed it smells like ………
What size? Kmart has a 24lt for $29.
They’re always on special at Woolies quite cheaply.
I have a fairly fancy one(Dometic). BUT it is durable, it looks good and the lid is reinforced so it doubles as a seat(useful for fishing). A friend of mine has had the same one for over 10 years.
Cheap + keeps cool
Basically anything with polystyrene foam +++ handles to transport.
Since contain fish == smelly … Really don't want to be spending big $$$.
Back in the day - as a year 7 science project ….
I did an experiment, as to keeping a single block of ice inside various eskies +++ documenting various stages it took to melt/etc.
The cheap/foam eskies performed just as good as the $100 eskies … And don't even get me started on the $300+ eskies.
Saying that though, some eskies come with handles, some don't…. So that may also be a consideration when purchasing as well.
Techni ice Melbourne based factory I think. Pretty decent, you see second hand ones, that look OK in photos on facebook for $100 all the time.
I bought 2 new ones over the years as mash tuns for brewing beer, and they've been great.
Legend, im thinking of going down the marketplace route. Since it will get destroyed eventually
its funny - im not really into fishing but my FIL is - and when we go its always two extremes for the people I see fishing - one side is like entry level eskys (like the kmart ones) or other random brand ones - then the other crazy extreme with those who rock full yeti gear. I kind of always thought esky is esky…
