Cheapest Place to Get Fresh Flowers Delivered Sydney?

I usually go to the local florist near my workplace to get flowers weekly / fortnightly at $30-80 for a bouqet of flowers.

This works out to be $1k - 3k per year to keep a varied bouqet of fresh flowers for decoration.

The flowers usually last a week to a fortnight when using flower food.

I live too far from the flemmington flower market to go there to buy them but know you can go there and buy from the florists/wholesellers at a huge discount (50-90% cheaper compared to buying directly from florist).

Any recommends on any sites or how to source fresh flowers for cheaper delivered?

  • Contact a courier that picks up flowers from the growers at Flemington markets. If you're doing weekly orders, they might add you to your the delivery list.

I'd start with contacting one of the growers that you've purchased from and ask them. This also depends on your location.

  • Pretty hard to beat Flemington for price. I haven't done it for a while now but used to pool with friends - each week one would go to the market and load up for the group so would only end up going personally once a month or so. Flowers and fruit and veg. We'd have flowers throughout the house, visitors always commenting how beautiful they are but it was just like $50 worth.

    • Can you please share how it works to buy from Flemington? What time do we need to go there and which day of the week? What is the minimum quantity we need to buy? Is the $ 50 for the week or the month?

You only make flower trips or you also buy vegetables when you visit.

Sorry for my ignorance if my question sounds stupid.

      • This was mostly my wife's domain, I'm guesstimating a bit here, and this was all well before covid so things / prices may have changed since. Flowers and fruit and veg all on the same day. We'd try to get there by 07:00 but I'm pretty sure it's open much earlier than that. You can come later but sometimes the stuff you'd like can go early. Usually go on a Friday but it's open all weekdays I think. Be prepared to buy larger quantities for good savings, hence pooling with friends - flowers less so, can get individual bunches. We'd possibly do $50 on flowers in a week, other times maybe per fortnight, depends on what's available and what we're doing at home (entertaining, birthdays, whatever). Some flowers last a lot longer than others. There's also a lot dependent on the arrangement skills - when I put together a bunch of flowers they look nothing like when my wife does.

It's been a while for us, maybe we'll give it another go soon. Once you set a standard with flowers in the house it's pretty beautiful, looks and smells, but life's busy and when you let it lapse enough you eventually forget how nice it was and how much it adds to your general well-being.

    Cemetery and uber delivery

    • even though, you are most likely not serious, it's a shitty joke, because people actually do that shit and its disgusting

    • If you bring a big net to a busy wedding venue, you can nab a bouquet every day.
