So if I'm looking for something, chances are deals are time limited, so why do search results come back in a strange semi-random order?
And the Advanced Search facility has no date ordering capabilities.
Any chance it can be fixed?

Thanks for that, I didn't know.
Can this be made a profile option? I've never found the relevance sorting to be effective for me. I wonder what other people's experiences are.
agreed, the default search results order is plain stupid and produces irrelevent out-of-date search results. i currently use the firefox addon Redirector to automatically add sort:created to ozbargain search urls
The goal at the moment is to move to a different search backend that is faster — probably next year. We probably won't update the existing search.

That's subjective :) I do a lot of search to find "out of date" posts for research purpose.
I just want to search and order by list date… can this be added?
It's already in the FAQ :)
The built-in search engine is supposed to list more relevant topics first. For example if keyword appears in the title, it is more likely to come up first.
Under "OzBargain options", click on "Sort by posting date" and the matches will be listed in reverse chronological order of when they were posted.
Or just add "sort:created" to your query.
