Any idea if the new Sydney Metro trams trains that opens Monday will have free rides for first 2 weeks like the trams and other transport when they launched?

its sydney, what do you expect? never free
OP must be very old for when the Sydney trams were launched.
Trams are NOT light rail.
In the news long time ago, Light rail is just marketing …. to speed up the project with the word "light rail".
They could have been from Melb, where light rail is still called trams
I mean technically you can reverse a tap-on at the same station you started at, if you managed to get back in under 30 minutes…
Is it if tap in/out each gate, it will still count the price of the end trip if within an hour.
I don't know what your sentence means, so I'll just link the relevant text on the Transport for NSW website in regards to this.

Just jump the gates like a bad ass. free. transport department hates this one trick
If I was in charge I would give free rides for a week.
When it first opened in 2019, they handed out wristbands for free. Today I had to ask for a badge that they were giving out for free that I wouldn't have known unless someone told me, or I scrolled through tiktok or some social gizbang. So why even bother, such a time and material waste.
Nope, they won't. It's normal Monday service tomorrow.
The free Metro was intended on Sunday only and doesn't apply following the delayed opening.
