Seiko Prospex SSC911P Speedtimer 'Go Large' Watch $610 Delivered ($590 after $20 Sign up Bonus) @ Watch Depot

540

Saw one in real life today - and thought oh damn maybe I DO need one after all (or need to address my addiction to mindless impulse buys).

Not much price history on here for this bad boy compared to the glory that is the SSC813p panda. The cheapest so far for the 911p I could find Was $599 for a brief period at watch depot 27/6/24.

It’s $610 with our boy Deepak @starbuy, unfortunately no $20 further discount.

At time of writing there is at least 10 pc in stock with Watch depot.

##Till end of today you can get it at Wallace bishop for $527 - must add to cart to see price - 5 left at time of writing - thanks for the tip @discountdazza

    @StarBuy SSC939P for tomorrow's sale pls thx

I got the pepsi version for $500 or $550 from WD

Yet to see one in real life
      Bet it looks ace

    • +2

This colour would have finally gotten me to purchase a Seiko Speedtimer, if it were the smaller size.

      • +1

I was the opposite, got the smaller panda and wish I got this instead

        • +1

Wow, what’s your wrist size can I ask? I was worried it would be a touch too small but it sits great for a 7 inch wrist

        • +1

Panda with black bezel > than the blue bezel one here imo you did good.

  • +1

Work college has one, and I envy him every time I see it on the wrist. Not in the financial place to get one of my own.

  • +3

God damn thats a good looking watch

  • +2

If this were just an 813 with red hands I'd buy one in a heartbeat, but these hands with the grey metallic sunburst really dresses down the versatility making it look like a sporty coke can tribute. Pretty grim prospects for outfit matching for me without crossing into gshock territory.

    • That’s fair

The panda is a bloody strap monster - goes with everything and anything. Dress it up with ss or down with leather , sail cloth, rally strap, nato etc

      • +1

Yeah, I'm not a chrono collector and at this point I think I've beaten the general collection bug so I'd just like one strap monster in the category. That said, I'd be lying if I said I don't secretly want a sea-gull 1963.

        • I can kind of see the appeal of the seagull 1963 (and there’s so many versions of it) was in my top 10 last year but kinda low on my watch collection safari list now.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Aye, I'm bunkered down with my mostly Seiko collection and hoping to find the time/focus to properly learn to service my older movements because paying new watch prices for cleaning and oiling gives me a spiritual chafing.

Can get a bit cheaper at Wallace Bishop for the remainder of today. $527 after going to cart with in-cart discount. Great deal! Tempted. https://www.wallacebishop.com.au/products/08ssc911-seiko-pro…

    • +1

      Arghhhh I'm tempted…. Should I or should I not…

      • +1

DO IT mate. Let me live vicariously through you. Only 5 left according to stock checker!

My next piece I still kinda want an apple ultra 2

        • Honestly I made it all the way to payment and said. No… I'm about to buy a kamado Joe Big Joe which is 2k… I need to hold off… It's a shame as I really wanted this lol

          • +1

            @maverickjohn:

I'm about to buy a kamado Joe Big Joe which is 2k…

            Oh hell yeah!!!

If I had space I’d get one too lol

            • +2

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah I just bought the kamado Joe.. that way I don't get tempted lol

              • +2

                @maverickjohn: Nice mate good idea
Weaker man like myself woulda just said stuff it and chucked both on the credit card lol

                • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Whats good about the komodo Joe over just a normal BBQ?

                  • @gakko: Just something nice to have I guess. Was wondering which of the next ‘dad’ hobbies I wanted to add to my personality and thought bbq would probably be the next in line - since I don’t have the skill for (good) golf and I don’t really like beer enough to get into home brew - Kinda also ties in with my grand plans of doing a full backyard / alfresco reno.

KJ big Joe prob too big for me tbh, probably only host a few ‘big’ ish gatherings 2-3 times a year right now - could change in future as the kids get older. I’d prob get away with just running two bbq instead of being fancy and running it in a two zone setup like this one affords.

                    • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Big Joe/big green egg etc are all ceramic smokers that will last a lifetime. Prior to this I had the chargriller akorn.. it was ok but lasted three years before it became a rust bucket and died in the tip.
Anyway we digress. I feel a sad loss on not getting the watch but it wasn't the right time.

                      No pun intended

                    • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: It certainly looks awesome and is the kind of thing I would be like "just get a normal one" to myself while wanting the beast.

    • +2

Omg! THAT PRICE!! (Also shows how bad Wallace bishop is with optimising their shopfront for modern web shoppers, google still shows it as $659 - like of course no one will bother to even click the link - let alone add one to cart …)

      Updated the op thanks mate

  • +3

I actually like this more than the panda.
The silver Sunray dial is beautiful

  • not bad, I was looking at the SSB413P, not solar though and not panda. https://seikoboutique.com.au/product/SSB413P

  • Stop buying watches and driving up inflation pls

    • I am getting really mixed messages tbh from all sides , mister RBA rep

    • Shut up and buy a Tesla!!

    • Lol blame those property investors not us!

  • +1

Nah you don't need it, too similar to the 39mm panda we got, which is the better looking watch, silver and red don't really work.

  • Price bumped to $645.

  • deepak@starbuy please match Wallace Bishop price!

    • +1

      911 they dont have stock

was low key hoping to see a ripper deal on SSC939P haha but noooo

      • thought about it for a bit too long and it went OOS in cart… sigh

        • +1

not going to lie that $527 price had me SWEATING at the checkout stage… but then i thought nah ..better not. This time anyway.

  • I'm guessing the 24hour hand can't be used to track another timezone?

    • +2

im happy to be corrected, but no.

i have always felt a 24 hour sub-dial was a bit dicky but once the watch is on wrist you just dont really even think about it anymore (at least with my ssc813p)

    • +1

Yeah it doesn't work like that, the 24h sub dial is to know if it's AM or PM.
Agree, it's fine and contributes to the overall look. If you want different time zones look for a GMT or Casio/G-shock with world time (or used your phone).
