Security Camera - Can You Connect Existing LED Cameras to New Digitial System?

We would like to update our home security. We already have home cameras all around the house but have not had the ALDI security box connected for sometime.

If we want to move towards a new digitial version so that we dont need to cords and monitor etc can we connect this to the existing cameras around the house?

It was an Cocoon 8 camera system Home Security with DVR.
Model HE1880040 02/2019

But I know it hooked up to a few of pre-existing cameras we already had. Maybe 5 years old.

Runs on cocoon app
Thank you

  • Are existing cameras PoE?

  • Aldi security box

    Did you mean ADT?

  • Most systems are tied to the original manufacturer's products.

There may be options, but we would need to know more about what you currently have installed; at least the manufacturer and preferably the make and model of the cameras.

      Well, that narrows it down.

I'm having flashbacks to when I used to manage tickets (for a specific piece of ERP software) and people would write tickets like "the internet isn't working".

      • And on sale multiple times in the last 10 years that are different models.

  • how good are you with computers?

I've set up tapo cameras with a Linux computer running frigate and home assistant.

  • Where's the PVR currently? If it's connected via an app there's no need to keep the monitor. You can even buy newer, much smaller PVRs (depending on what kind cameras you have). I have an old system that came with the house, I just connected it up to the network, threw away the monitor and other junk that was in a closet and let it be. I can check it on my PC if I ever need to. Cables aren't a worry, the cameras need power and the data cables have to connect to something somewhere - if you want to go wireless you still need power, you'll just also need a wireless bridge on each camera too, there's not much point.

Got a model number on the PVR? Model of cameras? Any kind of detail at all?

    • I’ll find the box & let you know. Thank you for info.

  • Wait what about connecting the existing LEDs in the Title? Isn't that the main question?
