Did this last time and it is definitely worth it. Just write on the GC how much you use since it is a bit of a stuff around to check balance (at least for my smooth brain). Last time I checked balance the codes didn't match up exactly and I ended up using the automated phone service (easy).

Total Tools is easily the winner for me.

Good savings but too bad I don't shop at any of those places

    Thanks OP
Shop at my local IGA regularly

These are physical cards which cant be used for on line purchases from what I can see. Still a good deal but I couldnt see option for
ecards which makes sense as I guess it defeats the purpose of shop local

  • Just bought $250 Foodland for $225. Thanks!

Bought before. Needed to check if your local IGA accepted it. My last experience was bad. The staff didn't know how to process the GC. Called the support but he couldn't do much as it was a physical GC. He offered to transfer the value to a new blank GC if you could get one but I couldn't. After a few attempts at diff visits, finally a staff who know how to.

Still good 10% if you shop often at IGA. For my local, the prices are not cheap.

Staffs do not need to know it is a gift card.

You say you are paying with card, swipe the card, press savings, enter the pin, wait for processing before accepting their wishes of having a great rest of your day.

      • Usually that info is printed on the back of the gift card ?

        • I don't think so from my memory. There were a contact number and a website to check the balance on the back of the card. I think they also had the digital card when I tried to check the balance. A digital card is better when it comes to storing. Also, I hope they add Fresco to the card.

      • That was what I did but the payment didn't go through. Possibly I didn't choose the right option, saving. The customer service who I called confirmed that there had been attempts on his record and suggested that the card could be broken physically (but not). At the time I thought IGA might have a separate system for GC payment like Ikea which also allows to enter the card number manually just in case. I was surprised that the staff took a photo of my GC including the pin and sent it to her manager. She looked like a student and that probably was the reason.

Later when it worked it worked without an issue. Cheers for the confirmation and tips.

No need to ask. It's just a normal payment by card.
Used these 10% off GC @IGA for years.

Had a small balance left on 1 GC, asked to do split payment along with next GC. No problem.

      • I asked for a split last time so I knew about that. And now I know I don't need to tell them. Thanks.

IGA Runcorn used to be my fav as of their meat prices and opening late. Later I struggled to buy. If the card includes Fresco, then It'd be a good alternative to Colesworths and Aldi.

Chatted with young IGA staff member when using GC tonight. Mentioned this discussion.
You're more knowledgeable than staff😉 He didn't know their system accepts split payments - or of this 10% off offer!!

Have shopped down Warrigal Rd in the past. Carindale IGA "Superstore" closed a few years back. Used to be my goto for cheaper meat.

IGA "Local" is 5 min walk from home, but higher prices. Really needed this 10% off GC!!

According to their target market determination:

The Gift Card is only distributed to consumers who determine themselves that they have
sufficient financial means to purchase the Gift Card

    Seems like I'm excluded.

  • Are these hackable? Any risk?

    • +1

Anything in the digital world is hackable. Including your bank acct.

    • +1

      I highly doubt it.

The gift cards in this deal should operate on the eftpos network, and you must swipe the physical gift card on the EFTPOS terminal at a physical store to redeem it. (It is not possible to add it to a mobile wallet, punch the gift card information manually into an EFTPOS terminal, or redeem it on an online store.)

If someone were to “hack” one of these gift cards, they would either:

      • Need to have access to the physical gift card itself to read the information on the magstripe, then make a copy of it, or

      • Have access to the place where information on the gift cards’ magstripes are stored, then use that information to make a copy of it.

Yes, anything can be “hackable”, but I honestly would be more worried about someone hacking a Coles Mastercard gift card, Vanilla Visa gift card or ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card.

Maximum order value $1000 (same as previous deals)

    • Use 2nd email address and you can buy another $1000. Just did it with all other details the same

  • Only MasterCard and Visa cards for payment unfortunately.

Good for those keeping 28 Degree Card going I guess.

    • I used amex for one

  • will they work at any IGA?

  • Never shopped in IGA, just google around and find this "Ritchies IGA". Can I use these gift card at this place?

    • The store doesn't show up when I search if it is the Ritchie County, West Virginia.

      You can check it here.
      https://metcashgiftcards.com.au/store-locator/

      • I can find Ritchies IGA on the map, does that mean the gift card can be used at that place?

        • +1

Yep It should. That's how I checked mine.

  • Can these gift cards be used to buy other gift cards in store?

  • +2

FYI you can get these at 5% off at NSW Seniors Card website when this offer has ended

They don't have much of a range of gift cards :( No Google Play for example..

    • It's a Metcash Gift Card.
Only for stores operated within Metcash payment system - like IGA.

Where gift cards are accepted is listed in Deal Description. But depends on which card you buy.

Google Play payments is not operated by Metcash🤔

  • Thanks OP. Never knew about these giftcards before. Boyfriend likely to need stuff from total tools over time and why not get 10% off

  • They had Paypal Pay in 4 so I was able to get extra. There is a SupaIGA near me that I like because they have products you cant get anywhere else.

  • Mine still haven't arrived, 10 days later :(

    • Same here…

      • Mine arrived today :)
