  • Hi OP. Do you happen to know this camera FOV? I don't see it mentioned in the specs.

My take from the video: CX410 performs better at night, CX810 performs better during daylight.

      • The aperture is the same on both, but the 4K sensor size on the CX810 means it needs twice as much ambient light to perform at the same level as the CX410 without any spotlights.

        • Accurate comments. I have both cameras and experience the same

      • It very much depends on your environment and how much ambient light there is. I had the CX410 while waiting for the CX810 and after getting the 8mp I find it much better day and night.

  • If these one of the night vision cameras that always has a light on to achieve high vision?

No. It does have a light also however.

This is a great price for this new camera. And the image quality is high due to the sensor used (even if MP count is less).

However, there is one potential issue for your use case, and I sorta wish it was more well documented in reviews… If there is too little light, it simply will not work without the physical lights being turned on. There is no IR, and no IR mode. So it does as well as it can in the dark, but ultimately beyond a certain light level it will simply be darkness.

A street light should be enough for most people to do a decent job, but in my backyard for example, it's literally black (depending on the moon) because my sky is nice and dark at night with minimal light pollution. There's also a point where IR is simply far clearer (albeit black and white of course), as the amount of noise introduced in the CX410 to pickup image is too high.

  • I have a CX-410 (a couple of weeks only) and am quite pleased with its performance at night, but not for image detection.

Tonight (near Sydney) is full cloud cover with drizzle, and I can only just see my hand held out in front of me as I walk outside. The camera is mounted on a pole about 8 metres from the closest I can walk. Just tested now, dressed in dark clothing, I can clearly see body shape but the image is not good enough for facial recognition.

With its light on, the image and colour is a LOT better, and faces are easily recognised. Person detection works. But the drizzle now coming down in front of the camera makes this useless. A separate light source would be needed for any camera to solve that.

I am waiting for a full moon night to see how it performs.

  • Would this security camera work with the RLN8-410 NVR? Cheers
