Terms and Conditions

For Amex Membership Rewards Ascent, Gateway and Business Ascent enrolled Card Members

To receive 10% bonus Velocity Points, the American Express Australia Card Member must:

  1. be enrolled in the American Express Membership Rewards Ascent, Gateway or Business Ascent Membership Rewards Program;
  2. be a member in the Velocity Frequent Flyer program, and
  3. transfer a minimum of 2,000 Membership Rewards points (or 1,998 Membership Rewards points for Business Ascent) from their relevant American Express Membership Rewards Program into their Velocity Frequent Flyer account in one transaction between 12:01am (AEST) 15 August 2024 and 11:59pm (AEST) 31 August 2024 (Promotion Period). Make sure your name on your Velocity account matches your name on your eligible American Express Card.

This offer excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members. A Primary Card Member can redeem this bonus Points offer multiple times throughout the Promotion Period. The bonus Velocity Points will be calculated as 10% of the base number of Velocity Points the relevant Card Member is entitled to receive when they transfer Membership Rewards points to Velocity Points during the Promotion Period.

      Yes but dont expect them in the future, last offer was April 2022, 10% bonus on transfers up to 299,999 and then 20% bonus on transfers above 300k.

      However last month I did get a 20% Amex MR to QFF transfer bonus on my US Amex Plat, seems to only be for American and Canadian cardholders

      Qantas availability is shocking these days and not really worth the transfer but ymmv.

          Yeah Asia Miles is my go to now as well. You can get decent Asia Miles rtw for 165k in business class and better availability than Qantas.

        QF availability is shocking because Platinum, Platinum One and Chairmans Lounge can often take all allocations.

        For Platinum, if theres an International Sale fare, you can call 131211 and request the seat be turned into Classic Reward, regardless of the cabin.
        Platinum One and Chairmans Lounge is the same but you can do it for a International Sale, Saver or First Flex ticket.

          Even so the round-the-world with Asia Miles is still cheaper than Qantas at 210k vs 318k.

          Surely they can’t release Qatar business at will.
