  • Can anyone recommend Magicka? It looks interested, and I always see it going for a pittance in Steam sales, but have never thought much into it. Reviews indicate that it's fairly buggy (at least on release) and is best with Co-Op… just wondering if this is still the case?

    • +2

I can. I had heaps of fun with it (about 90 hours worth on Steam), but it depends what you like. There's also not much of an online community, so it's best to play with friends.

It was pretty buggy on its release, but they're always patching it: http://store.steampowered.com/news/?feed=steam_updates&appid…

      • Ah, thanks. Is the single player mode lacking? I've often found that in games with similar Co-Op aspects (Killing Floor, for example) the single player just isn't as entertaining.

        • Story mode is a bit boring on single player, but the challenges are still fun. They're a good way to learn all the spells and stuff, but they're also pretty hard by yourself.

The biggest thing is that in co-op mode, your friends can revive you when you die. In single player mode, once you're dead, you're dead, so it can get a big frustrating that way.

The only other thing is that you can't join a game that's in progress, so that pretty much limits the online play to friends as well.
