      and report back.

      • And let us know the link and how much if op has a deal? (Now not later)

    • as Ariana Grande said:

      • I see it,
      • I like it,
      • I want it,
      • I got it.
  • It was CPUs over a certain wattage wasn't it?

      i5-13420H

      Processor Base Power 45 W
      Maximum Turbo Power 95 W
      Minimum Assured Power35 W

Is that over the wattage they suggested were affected models?

The way Intel is behaving, why would you trust them and take the risk? I’d stay away from all 13th and 14th gen and even Core ultra CPUs if I were you until Intel comes clean and stop acting like entitled brats.
It would be logical to think laptop CPUs would be affected by this as well, since they do share the same architecture and some manufacturing processes with their desktop counterparts. I guess oxidisation is the main concern, since that's the thing that can't ultimately be fixed by microcode and BIOS updates. Intel did mention that oxidisation was confirmed on 13th gen CPUs manufactured "back in 2023".
I personally have a i5-12600 and was considering upgrading the CPU down the line but there’s no way I’d do that now.

because their ads are cooler! /s

  • Intel released a statement that mobile chips aren't affected. Whether you choose to believe Intel's words is up to you, just note that it's impossible to know if their statement is correct, since nobody has carefully cut open an Intel CPU and put it under an electron microscope to inspect the millions / billions? of individual transistors for damage or oxidation. It would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack but you don't even know what the needle looks like.

  • Lenovo are quoting me more than double the purchase price to repair a laptop (more a replacement of all parts actually) so if after sales service is a factor in your decision, then maybe look elsewhere.

  • Even not considering stability, i5-13420H is not even as good as i5-12500H
