ATL on this WiFi 6E router.
Great bank for buck, highly recommend.
Setup takes approximately 5 minutes and the GUI is very user friendly (albeit limited).
More suited to an apartment or small unit.

  • Theres a 6ghz now? - I've clearly been under a rock.

What would anyone suggest for a router to replace my Nighthawk R7000 - just seems to be lacking performance lately. Websites hang before loading - 5ghz channel keeps disappearing for some reason. Assume the router is shitting the bed.

    • yeah, my R7000 is doing the same thing. had a pretty good run but i guess its time to upgrade.

  • Do you folks think it makes sense to buy a high-end Wi-Fi router if I only have 100Mbit internet and use it for web browsing and Zoom calls? I have a few Google Home speakers that often lag a lot but I doubt it is because of the router.

    • this has a lot of WiFi bandwidth including 6Ghz. So useful if you're in an apartment building but otherwise it's nothing special.

    • Honestly if you have a family/sharehome of 4+ this will definitely help with reducing congestion.

For anyone else in a house with 2-3 people you won't see much of an improvement over the stock router that your ISP provided (as long as the stock router is less than say 6 years old).

I picked up an Asus AC88u router (top of the range in 2018) for free off marketplace and noticed my latency dropped considerably, but is it noticeable to the average user?
      Probably not.

Mind you Wifi 7 seems to be a big step up.

    • also keep in mind the devices need to be wifi 6 compatible to take advantage of the 6ghz channel. But a high end router will also have other improvements for the older bands with better congestion management, range and reliability. In the end it depends on your use case. What is high-end now will be commonplace within a year, so if you can live without it wait a bit and save some money.

  • Got Ax1500 model for $69 from TGGC, which has wifi6.

  • Managed to get BE9300 for $353 from them. That was a bargain.

    • Me too but it sucks at 5Ghz range

      • +1

4x 2.5Gb ports is a big bonus though.

    • I can't find it on TGGC site.

      Link please?

      • They removed it around Feb-Mar. Probably was a price error.

        • I was able to order manually by contacting support from TGGC
