Going by history (Coles-Myer spinoff), I expect the arrangement will continue in place for the foreseeable future. Since DSE is not really a direct competitor to any Woolworths brand, it would be in both parties best interests to let the agreement continue.
I am a menial drone for woolies. Whilst i have not heard anything directly about the gift cards, when the sale went through we were told that Dick Smith would accept our staff discount card for the next 12 months. Likewise, Dick Smith staff can keep their Woolworths group staff discount cards for 12 months. Also, Woolworths stocktake team are continuing to do Dick Smiths stocktakes for the next 12 months.
Whilst i personally agree with stralya's comment about DSE not being in direct competition to any Woolworths brand apparently that is not the opinion of the companies powers-that-be who cited the competion between Big W and DSE as a reason to get rid of DSE (ie to stop undercutting each other).
