https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/mcc_list will help those wanting to decode the MCC number of a retailer

  • Can any of these be used online with Woolworths gift card portal?

    • Woolworths gift card portal

It’s in the list provided in the link above

$18 promo credit when you spend $150 David Jones gift cards

David Jones has extra 30% off selected categories (women, men and kids) as part of the Afterpay Day promo - great to combine the little bonus from Amazon

Looks like they are same as the recent Cashrewards giftcards, just a rebrand of names from ACTIV
    Both managed by blackhawk network

  • Shame we can't use Amazon GC to buy GC's anymore!

    • Not allow anymore?

      • +1

        No more allow.

Any chance of using the category choice supermarket at Coles to buy a Mastercard gift card ?@WookieMonster

      I did that last night

Can those Mastercards still be used to buy Woolworths gift cards on the everyday rewards or RACV portal?

        • +3

You cannot use any prepaid gift cards to purchase gift cards on the Everyday Rewards app, as the Everyday Rewards app rejects payment cards with no 3-D Secure support.

You cannot use Coles Mastercard gift cards directly on the Woolworths Group gift card portal (e.g. RACV portal), because Woolworths has blocked them as a payment method. However, if you link your Coles Mastercard gift card to PayPal, you should be okay to use PayPal on the Woolworths Group gift card portal checkout (and using Coles Mastercard gift cards as the funding source).

            @WookieMonster: That’s about what I thought, cheers

Still works out ahead to buy prepaid through Amazon then Coles MC and just use that at Woolies for groceries than to just use the RACV portal so I might as well try

          • @WookieMonster: So what’s the split payment options like if someone forgot the $5 activation fee aha

            • @linkindan: At Coles, I assume?

              • If you go to a self checkout, the only way to do split payments is to insert the exact amount of cash you want to spend, then pay the remaining amount owed using one payment card. Do not press the Mixed Payments button, as that will cause an error to pop up (and require a staff member to clear the error for you).

              • If you go to a standard checkout, the checkout will allow split payments between multiple payment cards. Whether the staff member is happy to do this (or knows how to do this) is a different question!

      • Hopefully I can buy the vanilla master/visa cards at woolies with the grocery gift card and get the x10 points

        • You probably cannot do that.

In the past couple of months, Woolworths automatically rejected ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards as a payment method when other people have tried to purchase Vanilla Mastercard gift cards or Vanilla Visa gift cards. ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards and Category Choice Groceries gift cards are both functionally Activ Visa gift cards and appear to Woolworths as identical cards, so I would expect Category Choice Groceries gift cards to be automatically rejected as well.

      • loophole pending hahaha
