Thought it was a suitcase lol

Finally a backpack that makes Crumpler look reasonably priced!

  • It was available at the Bellroy website for $246 at the last black friday sale, so not ATL, but still a good discount.

  • Check out the Victorinox bags. Bullet proof.

    • What place do you recommend to purchase them? Any current deals?

      • -8

        Yes, I recommend them.

      • +1

The Victorinox Travel Gear (602154) is currently on ebay for $156.87

    • I have a victorinox bag but unfortunately the material ripped at the seam from picking it up… I didn't have any stuff in the bag.

      :-/

I have this bag… I work in tech traveling a lot, and used it as a daily driver. It's damn-near perfect but for one fatal design flaw - the straps don't keep their length, so whole you're walking around the bag gets more and more loose, so you end up walking around constantly tugging at the straps to tighten them.

I contacted support who were very helpful, but utterly unable to fix the problem (tried sending me some extra clamp things that were useless)..

If they could fix this problem, this would be the perfect laptops bag IMHO.

That sounds terrible, and not really fit for purpose.

    • +6

      sounds like a design flaw.

also no luggage sleeve to slide onto a roller bag?

    • +2

      Can concur 100%.

Amazing bag, other than the completely useless straps!

What were they thinking or doing in the design process, let's see how great we can make the bag. Then… 'anyone road test this for comfort or practically?'. Oops, wtf were they thinking, shakes head in utter disappointment.

I have 3d printed some clips that fixes it, happy to send some out for a couple bucks: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6696066/comments

have had zero issues after installing these!

      • Hey renza, I have the other one (Venture) and I believe we share the same annoying strap flaws. Would you mind messaging me so we can organise a delivery of those clips? Cheers

        • You seem to have DMs turned off, but feel free to message me

      • Hey Renza great job, I’d like a few too please. Awaiting your DM.

    • +2

I believe they have fixed the strap issues in their newer batch.

    • I’m having exactly the same issue with my bellroy duffle bag. Other than that it’s a fantastic product.

    • I don’t have this bag but the other version, I have the exact same problem. Always need adjustment when the bag is heavy. The strap clip I have, lost it after one use. Lol

However the other products are great no issue. Bought the tote, sling, wallet, mini pouch, all good.

    Overhyped and overpriced

    • +1

Twice the cost of an equivalent Samsonite/Victorinox.

Can't believe they tried asking $3xx for them.

      • I don’t have their bag but have wallet. After having that, frankly I wouldn’t purchase any other wallet. It’s so damn good.
As a buyer I would expect the same quality in their bags as well and for that, even to try out, willing to pay a bit extra.

Whoever’s interested in minimalist backpack, I would recommend this one from Uniqlo (RRP $79.9) or wait for the upsized cashback.

    https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E470111-000?colorCode=…

  • Any interested in the sling, there’s some inspired versions on aliexpress that are $15 or so.

  • Looks like a bog standard backpack. How are they charging $270?

I wouldn't mind paying a premium price for a backpack, but this is uninspired

    • Because "An Australian-based brand from Bells Beach and Fitzroy"

      • +2

And is made in the PRC.

    • Well. Supply/demand. For as long as people are willing to pay for a sub par backpack.

  • +10

If there are much better bags (with straps that work, LOL) at a quarter of the price, then it's not a bargain.

It doesn't matter how much of a "discount" this is off the crackhead RRP.

  • I've got this backpack and really like it. Great for travelling. Super well made and I've had no issues with the straps at all. I paid $249 about 12 months ago. Also check out The Iconic, Milligram and Rushfaster for Bellroy.
I recently had a very minor issue with another Bellroy product, and I only really messaged them just to leave feedback and they offered me a replacement. Very happy with the customer service and warranties.

Evol backpacks for $10 shits all over this.
    $269 my a$$

    • -5

I think you would find if your broke a$$ tried the bag you would take that back. Unfortunately evols are the only thing in your pay bracket

  • +2

$270 for a backpack? I thought this was OzBargain

    • What's your point?

      • +1

        Sht bag? Shrug

      • I reckon it’s pretty obvious to anybody with a clue.

  • Despite the comments, the black one is no longer available. 3 left for the green one.

    Waiting for a 90% discount coupon…

  • Every time I see a Bellroy backpack deal I'm reminded me of how grateful I was for the Ozbargain community who steered me to a Peak Design one instead lol.

    • Which one did you get? I didn’t like the curvy shape of the PD ones so didn’t pull the trigger

      • I got the travel backpack 30L, it was perfect for travelling overseas, and when I had to go to another city for a 3 day trip I just took the bag with me, very impressed with the quality and the amount of little pockets and zips and extra features. Used the 20% off richroll code from Ozbargain, came to around $350, but definitely a buy-it-for-life kinda bag. The only gripe was the straps are just a little too wide for my 5'2 petite frame lol
