thanks, i think the only one i don't have is doom eternal

Don’t tease like that. Give us a complete list of your switch games.

    • +3

I think the only one i have is nothing

  • Is the extra DLC with Doom Eternal Deluxe worth double the price?

    • Depends how hardcore you are. I'm not sure I'd attempt the DLC on Switch. I played it on PC at 165fps with KB/M and struggled to finish it.

    • The DLC is too hard.

  • +1

I didn't know that the Nintendo Switch had the processing power to run DOOM Eternal.

    • +1

It’s scaled down a fair bit

      • +1

That means it runs at a lowered down graphics setting compared to the console counterpart versions. Probably the lowest setting there is.

        • Very blurry, plays really well. If you are playing in handheld, you'll have a great time.

    • Doom are extremely well optimised. Eternal can run on the athlon 3000g Igpu at 45 fps.

Don’t forget doom I and doom ii have just been re-released and it is free to everyone who owned either or both!!!

    Latest version is amazing.

For the switch or you mean for computer like steam or gog? I had a look at the doom switch link, looks nothing like the doom I played as a kid?

      • +1

Wrong doom. The one listed above is the relaunch.

        • Ah this is the new Doom. Is Doom 2 new too? I think I have some of the old ones on GOG

          • @JL1: Doom 2 was the 1994 (I think) version.

            • @boxall: Thanks! Have to go through backlog if I ever get spare time!

    • Seems to be $17.99 for switch. I have the originals on thw switch

      • I had the originals of doom 1 and doom 2. Originals.
Then the new doom 1 and 2 is free. Got it now on switch, ps4 and pc.

it's because i bought the physical version

    • Thanks for this, got mine as well since I already own both DOOM (1993) and DOOM II.

  • Are any of these remotely playable without a mouse?

    • Out of that list? Doom 64.

      • +1

I’ve never played it personally, but many people consider Doom 64 to be the best of the ‘classic’ Doom games.

        • Same, perhaps I should give it a crack one day. I think I have it on Steam already too.

        • I remember getting it on release day back then and being sorely disappointed having played Doom on the PS One. If only I could remember why! All I remember is returning it for a refund, which you could still do back then with cartridge games.

Guess I could pay $2.98 to remind myself lol

    • i think you can use a mouse and keyboard for the switch version, you can for quake 1

    • Yes, even more so with gyro

    • I've seen it claimed here and there that the Switch version of all these games are arguably better than any other console versions available despite the 30fps limit (and begging for it to be a feature on other consoles), simply because the gyro control gives you the closest thing you can have to KB&M without actually plugging in keyboard and mouse.

Which is kind of strange, since both the PS5 and Xbox One controllers have gyro, but it seems it's just not as widely expected and implemented as a feature as it is on the Switch for whatever reasons.

  • I have the originals but can't update for free. Also not really sure what it's improving on as I think the extra maps exist on the originals except for the new deathmatch maps. Tempted to buy it just for the online, but not sure how many people would be playing it online. Was pretty sweet to find some south east Asians playing quake 1 online the other day (ie good for my ping)

The 90s kid in me, when I hear Q2 being sold for $6 instantly makes me want to buy it thinking how cool will this be playing with all my mates.

Then I realise I'm not in the 90s any more, my mates probably don't have a switch to begin with and I guess I'd never get around to playing it anyway.

  • TL;DR - my own recollections of buying DooM again and again over the years!

I've collected and re-collected DooM/DooM 2/ DooM 3/ Final DooM etc almost every time they've been re-released over the years lol. Had the 3.5 disks for DooM and DooM 2. The cd installation of The Ultimate DooM (which I also re-transferred on to 3.5 disks just for old time sake haha).

There was a digi pack version of Ultimate DooM/DooM 2/Final DooM (cool artwork on the cover, unfold it/open it up like a book and you had access to the disc). Which came out around the same time of DooM 3's release.

Had DooM on the Playstation - system linking with mates in the same lounge room (co-op, or turning the tv's around so we couldn't cheat in death matches lol) was so much fun. Actually with deathmatches in general they were a blast, especially during school hours (free time).

Re-collected them again digitally a handful of times (on Xbox 360, then again with the 2020 re-release on the Nintendo Switch and again on Xbox). Actually the 2020 re-release was the first time I got to experience on DooM 64, never played it on the N64. Also have the same re-releases on Xbox, playstation and pc.

Funny thing is, with every re-release…. I just want to power through the levels all over again (some I remember exactly where to go, others I forget certain key locations and need to explore everywhere again).

  • There must be a sweet spot where everyone who has ever wanted these games have purchased them already

now its time to monetize those who will throw in thier tip money and never touch these games
