10 years of driving in Queensland with no issues
Drive one weekend into Melbourne CBD and first fine in 10 years
So in this glorious education state this red light camera alleges I passed the white line 2.8(!) seconds after the light had gone red.
I might run yellows but I don’t run reds. These are the fine images:
You can see the tram crossing at the same time as me and there is no visible red light due to the tram blocking it.
I appealed this and the officer in charge replied to say they have reviewed and they are confident the offence was commited.
What does the ozbargain collective think? Worth seeing a traffic lawyer to see if I have a case? Any armchair traffic lawyers care to comment on the pros and cons?
I can see a red in the second shot. Kinda blurry, opposite corner top right of image.
Cameras tend not to make mistakes. People do, especially in an unfamiliar area and dealing with trams.
I also dont run reds, but got a fine a while back. Was it fair? It sucks, but it was a fair fine.
Put it down to a brain fart.
