Pedal Lynx 2 Electric Hardtail Mountain Bike Black $1996 (RRP $3499) + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ 99 Bikes (Club Member Required)

150

Great e bike if you're in the market. Picked up one last year for $2,700, and go riding most weeks. Have travelled over 3,000 km on it. Got the version 2 model for my 16 year-old son last week, which is even better. The engine is a Chinese brand called Annada, which has 110nm of torque.
The engine makes my Shimano motor e bike, which has 40nm, look like a toy.
Reid bikes has a similar spec bike at $1,999.

Its their first post, I thought they did well.

Only 5% of participants here are men at heights of 178-186 cm?

Who exactly do you think are the users of this site?

          • -5

@odysseus: Not every 178-187cm men in Australia (world) are interested in buying electric bikes. There's a reason why it is the only size left and they discounted it heavily.

            • +2

@craving: That's not what I, nor you, wrote at all.

And you might want to check what sizes are typically left behind on the end of runs, whether bikes, or clothing. Having only a Large left here is very much the exception.

With all the negs and it is still not mentioned it is only available in one size LG only. Yup, sure those people have nothing better to do than negging me. Soif you people are true to the facts than say something that makes sense. Makes me believe the people that are on Ozbargain only good at negging. So if someone posted shoes with only size 11-14 is considered a bargain? Then why don't everything gets posted as a bargain. Then where's the bargain with Ozbargain? I used to wonder why people that speaks the truth like JV always get negged, now I know.

      • Single size deals have been posted many times. Sometimes they're for you, other times not.

        • -1

That's exactly my point, they are posted with care so the very few people that can benefit from it know straight away from reading the deal. And most of the time you can tell right away why there are only very few, generally two or three upvotes on the deal.

It’s straw-hat first post (appears) and I can appreciate a small omission for starters

It's a little annoying this was posted as there is limited stock and had been trying to decide between this and a few others for a few weeks. Kept coming back to this but was waiting to test ride before comitting but just had surgery so haven't been able to.
Pulled trigger incase stock disappears due to general ozbargaining.

    $3,499.00

When did it last sell it for $3,499.00 ?

    A couple of years ago???

    https://web.archive.org/web/20240303082300/https://www.99bik…

    • It's the general price, all manufactures for bikes are doing it. the Reid equivilant is about the same price after discount too.

      • According to the ACCC, it is illegal for a business to make a price comparison with a RRP or any other price that they have not recently sold it for…

        • +11

Technically if you go in store and aren't a Club Member, then it's $3,499. If you're so concerned then take it up with the ACCC big boy.

          • @ScottEh: I doubt they are selling them for $3,499, nor have they sold one recently for that price little boy.

        • Costs money to join the club (like $5 or $10 or something) and unlocks member pricing. So it's a 'member special' which would be ok for ACCC I assume?

          • @AmperSand: Try adding one to your cart without being a member…

            • +1

@jv: But I'm a member, why would I bother doing something so stupid to try and get an "ACCC gotcha"?
Seems like a lot of effort to be bent out of shape over nothing?

              • +1

                @AmperSand:

                why would I bother

Because they don't normally sell them for $3,499.

Under ACCC laws, that comes under deceptive and misleading price comparisons…

You are not saving over $1500 as they are trying to claim you are…

                • @jv: They do absolutely normally sell them at $3499, but when on clearance, they only allow members clearance prices. So you would have to be unbelievably stupid to not purchase their membership and save that much. They have a Pedal Lynx 3 coming out, which is assumbaly why this is on 'members only' clearance.
It's not hard to follow and not misleading.
You also get a lot of perks for the membership you don't 'have' to purchase.
I actually had a membership to maintain my sons bike because you get deals like 'buy 3 tubes get one free'.

                  • @AmperSand:

They do absolutely normally sell them at $3499

                    No they don’t,

                  • @AmperSand: Looking at the specs of the Lynx 3, the new motor is 80nm v 110nm for the lynx 2. Not sure it is an upgrade.

                    • +1

@Sacatomic: Yeah prob isn't. But usually when they release newer models they clear out the older ones. Happy with Lynx 2 🙂

  • This bike comes in several flavours including the Shogun eTrail Breaker 3. Ananda M100 is a good solid motor.

The Reid boasts better Tektro brakes and one higher spec Altus derailleur, while the Shogun gets 12spd Deore groupset.

A little down the price range Valk Cyclone 7+ for $1599 with Vinka E40 motor:

I thought Alivio was a spec higher than Altus?

  • Yes, you are right, Alivio is higher spec. Having owned and ridden both, The Alivio is far more light weight (and flimsy) and works better for road bike. The Altus is all aluminium and works better in MTB. Plus it's BLACK and hot looking !

    • I just picked up a Pedal Lynx 2 and rode it home. Came with Altus anyway.

      • Home ride review here please

        • +2

Most of the time was off assist I think(over 25km/hr), but assist was simply awesome getting upto speed and definately uphill. The whole ride felt super even despite being rather hilly. First ebike I've ever ridden and was my first ride on this at that.
Set assist level to highest for first ride (and still have knee swelling, 1 week after surgery) and was a breeze to ride. 10/10 would recommend.

  • Any idea of range for one charge while mountain biking?

  • +3

On a mix of road and trails I would get about 70km. They do sell extra batteries.
On another matter, I think someone here has a case of short man's syndrome 😄. Even though the bike is large, I reckon the bike would be fine for anyone from 160 cm and above.

    • I feel personally attacked 😅
Also, I club membership is only required if you're shopping in-store. Online pricing is just club pricing.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Valk with dual suspension for $200 more?

    • The Pedal Lynx 2 Electric is better in almost every way

Suspension front is a less suntour 30 vs 32, motor has less torque 80nm vs 110nm and battery is smaller 10.5ah vs 13ah, groupset(gears) are worse altius vs alivio

  • Only large size?
