QLD Translink - Longest Route?

There is a thread about the Queensland 50-cents fare which has gone over 5-pages.
A bit too crowded hence this post. Hope it's ok.

I checked and couldnt find any reference as to which s the longest route, ie the most expensive route (before the 50-cent thingy).
Cant easily see from Translink website either.

Perhaps someone in OzB has some idea and are happy to share?
Thanks heaps!!

The South East Queensland zone network stretches from Gympie (170 km north of Brisbane) to Coolangatta (100 km south of Brisbane), and from Helidon (80 km west of Brisbane) in the west to Moreton Bayside suburbs of Brisbane and Redland in the east.

8-Zone fare was $21.48 but it now costs $1.00 to travel in zones 1–8 from Noosa Heads to Kirra Beach, a 14 zone journey taking 6h 23m.

Why would it matter? Who wants to sit on a crowded train/bus for 4-6 hours unless it's a place you want to go to? In my opinion, you would be better off researching which trips are either quicker, or not much longer, than driving, and which are interesting destinations in themselves.

If you're in Brisbane and want to get some value, just catch the train/tram to the Gold Coast. Much quicker than taking train & bus to the Sunshine Coast, which takes roughly 4-5 hours. The public transport system in South-East Qld is pretty crap in most areas (especially from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast), and it was recently demonstrated that Brisbane has the worst public transport of any capital city in Australia.

longest route would be catch any train at 5.30am and doing loops until midnight

    that would teach them!

  • Brisbane-Noosa day trip was floated around. Perhaps in a novel? Go out in Brisbane (drinking presumably) catch the first train 6am to Nambour, get some sleep on the train, short bus to noosa arriving around ten. Sleep more on the beach, or have a day there and return by around 5pm.

    • Nambour to Noosa isn't what I would classify a "short" trip - it's well over an hour on the bus. Sometimes closer to 2.

      • yeah says 1.35 +- adjustments used to bus three hours minimum each day when I heard about it.
