These are good cameras but pretty useless without the monthly subscription ($12 minimum)

    • How about the clarity in video quality ? the subscription doesn't entice moving off Eufy tho…

    • +1

Knowing Google, don’t buy anything cloud based, especially from them.

    • +2

Working fine for me. Non subscription still captures events and stores it for 3 hours. Plenty of time for you to check it and download if needed.

When i go overseas i activate the sub for that month and cancel it when i return. Probably don't even need this but if i forget to check/download while on holiday, i have 60 days of event histroy saved.

      • +2

A three-hour recording window is simply not enough. What if a package is delivered and stolen while you're at work? This system is impractical for most people without subscription. While the video quality and detection are impressive and very accurate, the lack of a longer recording option without a subscription makes it a costly choice.

        • If you're not carrying your phone then maybe that'll be an issue. I don't see any scenario where i dont have my phone at work. YMMV.

      • +3

From my perspective, the most important use case is overnight. Wake up in the morning to an alert and you can't even view the video. To date, I haven't had this issue, but it's the one time you do and you won't have the video to go back to. They know this and that's why they've restricted video history in this way.

I set up my notifications to alert me when my DND is on at night time. Just make sure you turn off animal detection.

Theres always a cat or two roaming my area late at night.

      • +1

3 hours isn't even enough for a nights sleep.

Car broken into overnight? Footage gone by the morning!

        • -3

          Didnt read my previous comment?

          • @LuI3: Must be a really light sleeper to wake up to a push notification on your phone! My phone is always on silent to begin with.

  • +1

I have a nest cam with floodlight which has been giving me "video isn't available yet" issues despite having good wifi connection and live stream working. It can take a few hours before footage actually uploads (internet speedtest 84/20mbps, so that's not it). I don't love the reliability of Google services in general, but outside of that it's pretty good.

    • I want one of them, still waiting for a good deal $290 in amazon as well.

    • I also have a nest floodlight and I don't have the same issue.
I can always watch a video clip almost instantly, may be less than 30s delay.
Perhaps your camera is too far from your router, hence your wifi signal is unstable, or your power supply is unstable.

      • It used to work fine for months. Then suddenly it didn't. It's hardwired by an electrician. Only thing that changed is my ISP. In theory, if live stream works, then so should the upload of video… I read about others having the same issue. But I may buy an extra mesh node to see if that helps.

The lights are great though. Very bright.

        • +1

may be try restart your router and update its firmware,
if it still doesn't work, also try factory reset the floodlight and update its firmware.
          hope it helps.
I have 2 floodlights, a few wired indoors ones, and some battery outdoor ones.
          All working fine.
My router & mesh are Asus, very stable, I regularly restart them once a month or so.

          • @TanedaR: I restarted my routers (Asus XD6), which seems to have helped. My mesh seems to require more restarts than the Linksys it replaced.

            • +1

              @Make it so: That's great. :)
My guess is that the Asus router has auto updated its firmware and requires a restart.

Sometimes my Nest cam outdoor battery lost its connection randomly, maybe 3-4 times a year.
But it can be fixed easily by restarting my Asus router.
That's why I restart it regularly.

        • +1

Yeah happened to me too when I changed isp and the battery cams stopped connecting. Do a full reset and then setup again right next to the router. It’s amazing that if u change wifi networks or change network name u have to do this.

  • They might be running these out as well as Nest speakers

    • -2

You should have negged the deal to highlight there is a better deal elsewhere.

      • Then you will need to neg many deals as there's always a better deal from time to time.

    • Now anyone want 2/3? in SA? 😅

  • picked this up at JB today for $399. OP may need to update and change the title.

  • Just be aware and nobody tells you that the 3 packs and w packs only come with one 1 metre cable and it’s not designed for outdoors they say. Costs 30-40E in stores or the 10m $70. So factor that into pricing especially if u want 24/7 coverage for the $24pm service.

    • Why you need x3 cables? I already got x3 and not all need charging same time. If you want continuous power? Add a solar panel, around $30 in Aliexpress.

  • I had a chat at jab hifi today and the rep said Google are bringing out a new range fairly soon but he didn’t have details yet…hence the heavy discounting.

  • I love the way Amazon are trolling officeworks by making the price on single battery cams 174.99 when officeworks have them priced at $175. Opening ow up to a pricebeat. Pretty funny.

  • Amazon price matched JB. Good outdoor camera with solid battery life tho the 1080p for outdoors in 2024 is behind but still good if it suits your home areas.

And remember the cashback 6% or 7%.
