Looks to be identical to the Bunnings ones.

    • The Pinnacle range?

I wonder which are better or whether they come from the same Chinese factory?

      • I don’t remember the name, but I bought them off the deals posted here. Probably the same factory. Can’t speak for these but the ones I got have been pretty good. I stored them outside for a summer now they are all mouldy though. The mdf is heavy as.

          Are you in Melbourne?

There seems to be a lot of green mould around this Winter… Climate change ???

          • @jv: I’m in SE QLD. The mould I have is orange lol First time in my life seeing orange mould. Got it after the flood last summer.

Never seen mould growing in Melbourne, it’s pretty dry. Maybe it has changed.

MDF is generally a crap material unless it's coated with a sealant or a veneer. Absorbs water, warps and off-gasses weird chemicals.

If it's properly sealed then it can be a good choice.

    • Almost. These ones appear to tell you to put the top shelf a slot lower so you can put the extra set of feet on the top for some reason.

      • You can move around the slots anywhere you want, except for the joints. I had to adjust a shelf or two to make room but couldn’t move past the joints.

    Usually,

    ‘What’s ozzy-bargain’?

Me: why… why are you saying it like that..

  • Shelves are rated for 165kg each.

Chinese kg?? No way I'd trust it

  • Wondering if this okay for outdoor use? If I put it in balcony, will it corrupted or rusted by rain or wind?

i really would not recommend putting it outside unless you paint the metal again with an extra protectant, and replace the default mdf boards with something more durable and or wont warp with water and sun cycles.

FYI ours got mouldy this year even inside our garage with good ventilation. Mould loves MDF on these things.
Ended up spraying them down with pool chlorine and then painting them in a mould resistant pain (2 layers).
    Been good since.
Strongly recommend sealing the MDF bits with a sealant, veneer or paint before building it.

Just wondering was there moisture or water somewhere or did it just grow mould out of nowhere? Interested in purchasing so curious to know.
      Thanks in advance.

      • We live on a hill in Sydney, with direct sun all year round.
It's been a wet few years but our garage has a front and rear roller with great ventilation, and i raise the rear one on sunny days to further ventilate it. We get good cross-winds.
We have no pooling water or damp issues on the property.
The MDF just acts like a sponge to ambient humidity.

    • Thanks for the advice @bmgoau Any cheap option for a sealant? Is this okay for MDF?

Just got a set and put them together. Seem as good as any tool shelving I've put together before. Interestingly the MDF shelves are cut a couple of MM too long and I needed to shave a bit off in the corners with a rasp to get them to fit, was a minor inconvenience.
As for the MDF going mouldy, that just doesnt happen on its own without some serious damp issues. I have dozens of shelving units in various places and never had a mold issue even ones under an open carport. But of course they can't get wet or they will swell up and fall apart.
Anyway I'm happy with them, thanks for the post.

For those who might be looking for something stronger and larger (and in my opinion much nicer looking), I am considering these ones below from Ebay. I think the blue and grey ones look the best and will not look bad in the hallway were I plan to put them. The grey actually looks mostly white to me and so it wont be overbearing from a visual perspective.

All steel, including the shelves, so avoids the issues with MDF that others have reported in above comments on this deal. It's a similar size as these two in the deal (but all one unit) and a similar price $178, but the shipping is high, must be very heavy, but they also offer pickup from Smithfiled Sydney, so that might help some folks out. I still think it's worth the extra cost for the shipping (showing about $80 for me) because I think they will last a lifetime, whereas these ones in the deal might not.

Would also hold a lot more per shelf, so that's a plus, but for me, the fact they will be easier to clean and that I won't have to seal the MDF shelf panels my self is a big bonus, as I would probably not get around to it and use them as is anyway and then regret it later, so these seem better for me in the long run.

2m x 2m x 0.5m, various other heights and widths and colours available on their Ebay store page too.

Anyway, I hope this helps someone looking for a slightly different option

    1.5m x 2m x 0.5m also available for $158:

Also these lite duty ones (but still 70Kg per shelf) from Queensland (but shipping also seems a bit cheaper too)

I bought the 2x2x.5 ones from Woolworths Everyday Market, just under $180 each with free delivery about 6 weeks ago. The eBay ones are expensive shipping due to length, not weight (2m long). You have to build the ends (blue parts in the picture). I haven't put heaps of weight but they are reasonably sturdy for being quite lightweight (not industrial strength like actual pallet racking, all the components are made of thin steel but I haven't had any issues so far). Bonus is you can connect multiple lengths together along a long run. Shelves are easy to adjust the height of.

@Cobber870 Thankyou very much for this detailed feedback, I really appreciate it! They sound pretty good, even if not quite as heavy/sturdy as I was maybe thinking, they still seem like they are a very solid option in this category of shelving.

Your message prompted me to checkout the Woolworths website (surprised they had so much stuff) and I found the ones you mentioned, which was good because even though not at the discount you got, they work out cheaper than the Ebay ones because of shipping.

But this then prompted me further and with a bit more searching I found an even better deal that is way, way cheaper than all of them (I think roughly about $150 cheaper when buying 2!)

So thanks again for your post, it has greatly helped me out, cheers! 😀👍🍻🍕
