Freescale i.MX6 vs RK3066 vs AML8726-MX - Which processor is better for Android tablet?

Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me! Which processor is better when you are looking at a android 4.1 tablet?
which is the best?

  1. Freescale i.MX6 Cortex A9
    Dual core
    Quadcore

  2. Rockchip RK3066 (dual core A9 CPU @ 1.4 GHz (o/c 1.6 GHz) + quad core Mali 400 GPU @ 250 MHz

  3. Amlogic AML8726-MX (dual core A9 CPU @ 1.2 GHz + dual core Mali 400 GPU @ 400 MHz)

Thanx

  • I think if you google around those models you'll be able to find many benchmarks on the net. In general,

    • i.MX6 with quad core has an edge on CPU benchmark, although it's slower than Tegra3 and not significantly faster than RK3066.
    • AML8726-MX would be the slowest although still quite fast comparing to last year's Tegra2.
    • Real world situation — not many apps use quad core CPU
    • i.MX6's GPU is Vivante GC2000 (quad core @ 533MHz??) supposed to be pretty fast. However I had a tablet that uses previous gen Vivante GPU, and has a pretty bad compatibility. Most recent games would crash. Not sure whether GC2000 is better.
    • Mali-400MP is ARM's reference GPU and is fast with good compatibility with games. Now, quad core @ 250MHz vs dual core @ 400MHz. Hmmm.
    • Most report says RK3066 has an upper hand in performance comparing to the Amlogic, although Amlogic tablets like those Ainol ones have good community support.

    You decide :)

  • while its nice to dwell on these technical details i'd be happier with a reliable tablet and the right set of features i need

the AML + Mali400 seems to be the std. for cheapo tablets we like here… read Ainol?
