The only way you would saves is by you having them i initiate their price guarantee then take off the $25. Best to go with any other company but them as they would be cheaper overall.

Something about Skyfall and Flight Centre in the same sentence makes me feel a bit uneasy.

Thanks cloudsdbz. Got the $25 on my email I hope I could complete the 3 remaining missions so I could earn a total of four $25 vouchers early next year. Never had any problem asking for a pricematch from Flightcentre for all my overseas travel and insurance bookings.

It isn't a huge discount but I think that here in WA they have competitively priced packages to Bali. Since I travel alone usually and don't like any restrictions or single supplements, those don't interest me. I think these might be best to use for accommodation bookings, in some instances.

    • Actually now that I think about it, aren't they supposed to be "fee free" for domestic flights? Same price as airline direct?

Argh got the e-mail confirming my entry but the coupon code is nowhere to be seen.

EDIT: disregard this, got the code soon after the above was posted.

  • (edited myself - misunderstood the promotion)

  • The second $25 voucher is now available

Tried to use the voucher online to book an accommodation - no dice.

Walked into their Parramatta store this arvo, low and behold wasted 30 minutes of my time booking the darn thing when it usually takes me 5 minutes to make a booking. Their credit card surcharge sucks up a considerable part of the $25 rendering this whole promo a waste of time. Think I've saved $5 a night when their rack rate is a few dollars more than the hotel chain's own rack rate.

Will I try and get the second $25? Nope.

Have they got rid of me as a customer with their crappy service? Yep.

    • Tips for future:
      1) Do your research first, find the lowest price online and they will beat it
      2) Pay by cash or Bpay and no credit card fees are charged

I did both these, saved $55~ with voucher, no fees and was out within about 15 mins.

Don't they waive the credit card fee if you're price matching?

        1. I've done my research and it was the price I was thinking of but the chick is adamant the system is a few dollars more - by that time I've sat there for 20 minutes and really, really want to get this over and done with so I can get the f—k out of there.

        2. Again, I got pretty fed up and just want to sort out the booking there and then so just cop the fee on the chin. At that point, I can't be ar53d spending another 10-20 minutes arguing over $10 or BPay it once I get home. I really can't be bothered.

If I had known up front it will take this long, I wouldn't have gone to them. I even told them the date, the place I want to stay at and the rack rate…all they really gotta do is punch in those details then it's as good as gold. Seems like it's too hard for them.

        • Can't be bothered for a saving should be in an OzBargainer's mindset.

  • Here's a dirty little secret that might not work anymore (or at least shouldn't once enough people do it).

When you make an on-line inquiry, Flight Centre expects to get back to you within 24 hours or so. The problem is, some days they are overworked or forget about certain inquiries, making them feel the need to apologise with a form of compensation - in my case a $50 voucher, which is TRANSFERABLE!

So what you could do, but I wouldn't (as yet)…), is make a whole lot of bogus travel requests with multiple e-mail accounts and potentially collect on your time investment.

Of course, Flight Centre employees have quotas so if you're taking a simple one-way or return trip you're possibly getting ripped off and should do your own research. Then come back with your best price and use the voucher. Top top it off, Flight Centre often rewards you with a voucher once you book a trip :) Please note if you're buying a one-way trip and it's not ex-Australia they won't let you use the voucher :(

from what I asked the sale attendant before. If they make mistake and it incurred lost to the company, they have to pay certain amount of percentage of the lost, will be deducted from next pay.

      this is ozbargain not ozripper..
