All time low for Amazon as per Camels, and the lowest price anywhere at the moment.
Not the all time low of $1599, but that required a Costco membership.

Its in the Home/Kitchen category, so eligible for an additional 4% off the pre-GST amount = $63.97 via TopCashback
Fairly easy to get at least 2% off an Amazon giftcard as well, which gives another $35.18 off.
Combine the two discounts and you can get it down to $1660.05.

The upgraded model to this, the S8 MaxV Ultra, adds an RGB camera, slightly more suction, on device smart assistant (along with the privacy concerns) and a detergent dispenser - which in my opinion isn't worth the ~$700+ premium. ($2313 via The Good Guys Commercial)

Robot Vacs have come a long way. I started off with the original Xiaomi and am now using the Roborock S7+. Its run daily on a schedule and copes remarkably well with long hair, pet hair and toddler food crumbs everywhere.

  • Good price. I bought the white version from JB Hi-fi for $1850 yesterday. Bit of a convincing after a price match with Costco, and adding in a $280 extended warranty.

    • How did you get that price

      • Just as I stated above, price match, extended warranty, and haggling :)

Is this as good as the Lubluelu…..

nah, lubluelu is the gold standard lol

Still waiting for a deal on MaxV.
I have hard time forgetting how much my first gen Roborock loves to chew wires laying around.

The other one I'm considering is the Dreame X40 Ultra. $1920 from TGGC. Marketed as an S8 Max V Ultra alternative. Online reviews seem to have it ahead of most categories.

However, the S7+ is still working well. I might hold out until the roller mop, which is the next advancement in robot vaccum tech, becomes more widespread. Its on the Eufy S1 Pro and apparently is a night and day difference to the twirling heads and vibrating pads of the current gen.

Wow this is great news! I almost bought the S8 MaxV from TGGC when the Dreame x40 got released. I held back to see how the reviews would be and it initially seemed like the Dreame is more feature rich (in the app) but also more expensive. AliExpress prices and reviewers seemed to agree on the pricing.

The reason I was mostly biassed towards the Roborock was that the first gen at least (the one made with Xiaomi) was extremely modular and very repairable. Almost every part was replaceable very easily.

If Dreame x40 is available for that price, I might actually give it a go now If the AI/camera/object-detection is good enough. I'm not that concerned about mopping yet since only our kitchen is not carpeted (and Dreame can leave the mop pads in the dock which is nice)

      • After comparing the two, I'm getting the Dreame because of the better object detection and the possibility of adding a plumbing kit later.

        • That's what I also ended up getting. Doing a price comparison, the S8 MaxV Ultra is so much more expensive, yet the Dreame is comparable if not better.
If you look at historic flagships with the S7 MaxV Ultra, $1900 is about the maximum discounted price 12-18mth post launch. Cheapest S8 Pro Ultra (slightly inferior), was $1600.

I'd also recommend the Tricut hair brush which can be gotten for about $40 through Aliexpress if you have lots of long female hair/dog hairs to reduce hair entanglement maintenance on the main brush.
