street value of the 24-70 f/4 is 550-600. sold mine recently.
better off with Zf and 50mm f/1.8s combo.
I was talking about current market price from authorised camera stores, not used.
yea but you'd be stupid to buy that lens used.
50mm f/1.8 however is fine buying new.
my Z6 with 24-70 was only 3000 with FTZ, memory card + reader.
Yep, Nikon Z 24-70mm F4 S Zoom has been $999.95 @ Teds (and Amazon) for several weeks: https://www.teds.com.au/nikon-z-24-70mm-f4-s-zoom
As a full frame Nikon user who already has an f/2.8 zoom lens, I shudder when considering "downgrading" to a f/4 lens.
that f/4 is very very sharp, one of the best kit lens. i did sell it tho to fund my Fujifilm side of things, but recently picked up the f/2.8S for $1750
Where's the head
Probably should go to a store and hold this before buying, the grip is really uncomfortable IMO
I used a mounting bracket to make my z6 fit my hand perfectly. Definitely not the most comfortable
Small mention the range of lenses on this system isn't the best yet, you'll be taking a bet on things improving
What do you mean? It's a Z mount camera, compatible with all Z mount lenses, or use a FTZ adapter (I wouldn't).
Or are you referring third party lenses?
Probably talking about the SE lenses.
Personally i found the 40mm SE to look and feel very cheap - especially that grey/silver ring. Sold it and bought the normal 40mm f2 to use on FZ instead.
nah i think he's referring to the Z-mount system as a whole, but is really ill-informed about the current state of affairs.
Not sure where you got that impression.
Z-mount system is fully fleshed out atm, it's missing 35mm F/1.2 and that's it.
What lens are you looking for that is missing? Most people i know these days are more than happy. It did take a while to arrive at this point though and has only really happened since last year for me.
if i had to guess maybe super niche stuff like ultra fast wide angle prime, fish eye, and those super fast f1.8 zooms.
Nikon has a strong lineup of Z-mount lenses and their legacy glass from the F-mount works with an FTZ adapter.
In saying that, I'm still not sure why you think the current range of Z-mount lenses is lacking, Nikon has been releasing some great glass in recent years.
Apparently pimped brass dials is a thing on the Zf.
Ok that is actually pretty sick yea
Also available as kit with 40mm f/2 SE for $3,191.20
This lens is awesome imo, takes great photos for a beginner
Anyone here swap from a7iii to this?
I wouldn't… Already have heaps of sony glass and there's no handgrip on this. Can get the a7cii for $2600 on sale and more lens choice.
I'm waiting for the a7v or maybe get the a7rv if there's a sale.
Or keep the Sony glass. This Sony to Nikon Z adapter gets good reviews: https://techartpro.com/?product=techart-sony-e-nikon-z-autof…
Pricey, but almost native AF performance. I'm considering it for the compact Sony 70-200mm f/4 and maybe the Sigma DG line with aperture rings.
45mm f2.8 DG DN adapted to the Zf should be really really good.
the rendering of this lens is incredible.
Earlier this year, I got one of these and I really love it. It took some time to get used to the grip (or lack of) as it's not as comfortable as my old Z6 during long photo shoots. The autofocus is great for a Z series camera, and I find myself using the black and white function more than I expected. I'm also a big fan of the retro accessories available for this camera.
I want to buy the Sony A7cII try it out, unfortunely Digidirect doesn't want to add it into the ebay store.
Very concerning how ebay plus is worth anything nowaday!
but when i see this Nikon Z - seem like a great deal!! I never used Nikon before.
If you are not committed to any system atm, you might also want to consider the Lumix S5 II which also has 20% off in DD store and costs less. Lenses would be cheaper as you have access to Sigma lenses as well.
FYI https://cameradecision.com/compare/Nikon-Zf-vs-Panasonic-S5-…
I'm really tempted to upgrade my Z5 with this, but one of the main reasons I chose Nikon was the ergonomics… and the ZF doesn't seem great in that department.
Having used both, IMHO…
Z5 Pros
* Dual SD card slots
* Ergonomic grip
* Battery and card location
* Tilt screen (for photography)
* Smaller & lighter
* Price!
Z f Pros
* Superior AF accuracy, speed, reliability, and low light performance
* Better sensor, especially at high ISO
* 4K 10 bit log video
* Instant start up
* Higher res (and brighter) rear LCD
* Flippy screen (for video/selfies)
* With grip almost same ergonomics
* Retro look, if that matters
Thanks for the feedback!
I've been lucky to not have many issues with the Z5 autofocus. Mostly taking family and street photos it hasn't been an issue. I also used it for work, but most of my subjects were CEOs sitting at their desk or standing at a podium at a conference, so, again, they were not taxing on the AF.
Still, GAS is a serious condition and knowing that the ZF has better autofocus and a better burst mode might be enough to push me over the edge… but would require a grip :D
If you are in the market for a Nikon full frame, the recent release Nikon Z6 III with 24-70mm f/4 Lens $4499 delivered is also a good price considering the lens alone is close to $1k.
